Dark Souls

Dark Souls is going to be an open world version of Demon's Souls. There won't be any nexus binding you, and forcing you to return to it this time. Useless classes have been removed. No world tendency, which takes away the variable difficulty and just makes it difficult, period. The main drive of the game is to apparently explore the much, much larger land you'll be given, and if you can see it, chances are you can get to it.

This also marks PS3's loss of one of its two only good games, now that FROM has wormed out of having to make another "Demon's Souls" game, as it will be released on Xbox as well.

Changelog!:

- More difficult than Demon's Souls insofar as it will require greater strategic caution and patience. Confirmed only one standard difficulty: no “Easy, Medium, and Hard.”

- Open, seamless world with no load times between areas and a greater emphasis exploration and discovery.

- "Beacon Fires" - respawn points that will also serve as a place where players can “share experiences.”

- 100 different weapons, each with individual specs and capabilities.

- Twice as many magic spells.

- 100 different enemy types.

- Estimated 60 hours of play time.

- Tendency will not return, but instead a new mechanic will take its place, something that will measure and reflect a character's behavior and actions.

- Co-op, PVP, bloodstains, and player-messages will all return with more capabilities, and all online features will be worldwide. No voice chat.

- Crystal Lizards are gone, but a new and improved enemy will serve its purpose.

- Contextual and environmental based attacks allow you to perform deadly strikes on enemies with size-appropriate weapons.

- "No safe zone" - enemies will no longer lose track of the player if he or she moves out of range.

- Character creation will be more in depth.

Yeah but the game's easier if you stay in soul form because you never get invaded and/or you never lower your world tendency. And they're not really limited because you can farm them off some key enemies, but they're hard to come by. Colorless Demon's Souls are limited per playthrough. Edited by TMRaven

I can farm them off enemies? Which ones and where?

Also, being evil has never been easier.

"A good example is the player's skill level, reflexes and control, which is something we don't want to make a large factor that contributes to the difficulty."

And rats!

Doesn't really matter to me, the core of Demon's Souls is the interactiveness in its multiplayer. In fact the original Demon's Souls wasn't hard at all, in fact borderline easy, once you got to know the game. So the difficulty of the game isn't something I'd be marketing it around anyways.
