Shirtless Crackhead
I like that his enlightenment is getting rich.
Genocide
Money's just a tool, a greater message was that he felt trapped and was trying to express to plight of his people. Idk if enlightenment was the right word, maybe a revelation for him and money is an enabler. Impossible to say, as I haven't interviewed the guy, nor can I read his mind. Here's another song:  Edited December 7, 2011 by Genocide
Shirtless Crackhead
He's trapped? The blight of his people? It's honestly one and the same. The "man" isn't keeping him down, he's got the same opportunities, parental influence aside, as everyone else. The "trap" is his own culture, the way it muddles his "people" into poverty and crime. I'm just saying, the "man" who keeps him down is his own. Shirtless Crackhead
I think it's fair to say people in the "hip-hop"/"rap" community look upon Mos Def as an intelligent figure. I'm here to shit on that fairy tale.  Didn't know where else to post this, so I decided here will work. dealwithit.jpg
Nomrah
My god, I found that frustrating to listen to. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's arguments with big mouths.
Shirtless Crackhead
Especially when the big-mouth isn't saying anything more than "NAH SON I AIN'T DUMB".

ReGen
I've definitely started getting into rap/hip-hop recently (I classify hip-hop as the music and rap as the lyrics or whatever). I'm mostly into older, smoother and more positive artists like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul and LL Cool J (mostly). The more "socially conscious" rappers that reflect on society rather than talk about how great they are all of the time. It also bothers me a bit when people say those who sample are "talentless" and "lazy". Artists like DLS and ATCQ do it very well. Anyways, here are some of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRrM6tfOHds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1CaN4thI5w

SUMERIAN BLOOD GOD
Hendrix got sent to the military for stealing cars, got kicked out of the military for being a slacker, choked on his own vomit and died at the ripe age of 27. Brilliant musician but you can find nasty shit to say about anyone.   fuck lil wayne tho
