I've been a little slow on progress lately so I guess this is a good time to post some of my (3 year) old character sketches. These were when I was just starting to get comfortable with faces, so some might be a little iffy but I still like these sketches enough to share at this point. All of these characters I am still working with, and more modern versions are in the works.

Thank you guys

I was half-expecting the last one to be Avenger.

Proof of the psychological toll Avenger has had on all of us.

Awesome sketches, looks like it could be a roster for a sci-fi.

Thanks, you know it. I have a setting I've been working with for a long time, definitely sci-fi, but weathered and beaten. I like settings that have to do with lost technology or a group or society utilizing technology that it doesn't have complete mastery of anymore. I like to mix in the exception such as the guy in my very first post in the thread, he's clearly got access to the good stuff.

I'd really like to, and telling a story is what I'd ultimately like to do. I've been trying to piece it all together, and just trying to find the right way to tell it. I've got characters with motives, settings and plenty of scenes, and an idea of an overall story arc. But everything in between is still kind of a whirlwind. I've kind of decided I'd work on getting the visuals down because that's what I'm most comfortable with, and while I do that I plan on getting things straight in my mind. I'm just afraid of pursuing this story and going about it wrong, because I would really hate to screw it up. I've been seriously considering starting with side stories that take place within the same universe, that way I could experiment and get used to the whole process.

Yeah graphic novel style is what I've considered doing the most. I've actually started trying to do some panels a few times. You had me going over story in my head all day at work haha, I'll go into overdrive from time to time and go over plot lines.

Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely try some storyboarding. It would be good for me to cover more story ground by trying not to worry about making each panel into a completely polished visual to figure things out.

Thanks Fragrant, I'm glad the pics hit you that way.

I'll come clean and say that my art has been at a standstill since getting Street Fighter V last week and learning fight-stick at the same time. I've been kind of getting down on myself for neglecting my art duties. Once the new game feeling wears off I'll strike a balance soon enough.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I haven't played since mid-march I think in order to focus on pushing my game further. Although I probably shouldn't neglect the "no play" rule too much. It is important to play to increase your creativity in my opinion. Although, I accidentally go months without playing games by accident due to whatever project I'm working on just happens to take my attention in such a way that the hours fly by while I work on it. So yeah, it's definitely better to draw your ideas when you feel it, rather than forcing it. So yeah, no need to force it, once the game feeling wears off, definitely draw, you might have a new revelation or character as a result. Edited by Fragrant

Focus is shifting heavily towards art again, my little dive into SFV and the FGC is winding down for the moment I guess, its sort of tying in with the art to some degree though. I'm going to try and commit to learning how to properly color my works, I need my works to be much more eye catching. I've dabbled in digital painting but haven't really gotten comfortable with it yet, mainly because I'm trying to hold onto and figure out how to blend my traditional methods with digital painting. I just don't like completely covering up my natural pencil work. I have some ideas on how I might overcome this and will be testing it out this weekend hopefully.

I did a Chun-li draw of her pro tour outfit, I was just sketching her face but then decided to add more, that's why it came out a bit "stiff", I'm trying to focus more on dynamic poses in future works. I should have just finished the arm, oh well I can do a better Chun draw later.

New wip, I'm feeling pretty good about this one, I like the composition and girls with hats. And yes I was inspired by the unreleased Yatagarasu char design Nene. I'm going to try and make this one cleaner than I usually do in hopes that it will help me out when it comes to coloring.
