Yes, it will never die, even if I don't have anything specific to announce at this point.

Though I did find some upgraded F-15 J's, interestingly equipped with IRST, though I was able to verify its performance. I'm curious to see what it offers over the F-15 J and F-15 C, though I doubt it's as drastic as Su-27 to Su-35.

In other news, the PAK-FA is still making claims about being on track for flight testing apparently. The wide F-22 concept for the plane currently leads popularity.

UNBELIEVEABLE.

I will analyze.

EDIT

Info is hard to come by, about the only thing I found that might be worth stating is that the avionic will be based on the Su-35's. What this means specifically, I don't know. Russia has some AESA's, but perhaps their performance was not satisfactory enough to warrent one over an advanced IRBIS PESA?

Weapons seem to be concentrated between intakes, 8 R-77's or two bombs. I'm guessing the weapons bays are set up like the YF-23's.

I want to see it engage a QF-4.

Um, I've never seen a shockwave like that before. Especially that far out in front. In fact, from what I remember that isn't how a shock wave works. Hmm.

Sonic booms do propogate that way iirc.

I'm gonna send this vid to a few friends.

lol penis

But ya I'm fairly certain that's not a shockwave. What's visible is probably just the Mach waves of the plane. I think that's what they're called. Or another way to see it is the only thing visible is the sound waves emenating from the plane. That would explain why when it goes supersonic the circles end up being so far behind it, but still radiate out before the supersonic point.

Random topic time

Who has it right, USAF or RAF?

USAF - F-22 5th generation fighter with medium range AMRAAM

RAF - EF-2000 4.5 gen fighter with long range Meteor

You may think, well, 5 > 4.5, but what happens when the F-22 is found (it's certainly possible). The F-22 will be flying higher and faster, but its missiles will still have conventional limitations, ie, they will basically glide to the target. If the EF-2000 can get a lock, the Meteor could have fuel all the way to the F-22. The Meteor won't be AMRAAM fast (most likely), but it will have greater kill energy, perhaps negating F-22 supercruise.

So, who do you vote for?

AIM-120 will amRAaM meteors out of the sky. That translates into Range Air Missile.

I should also mention that both the AIM-120 and Meteor are Datalink TARH missiles, but the F-22 has a fixed 120 degree FOV, while the EF can reach 180 (I think, it's a movable PESA, or AESA).

I suppose gray boxes with x's on it are awesome.

But this reminds me of my flight to/from California/Texas this week. It was so good to sit in a plane again. Takeoff felt great, you can feel the thrust and lift. Sadly, I didn't see any local supersonic flow even though I was sitting on the wing. I got a nice view of vortices landing at Dallas though.

On the last leg of the flight, I was by the engine and recalling my professor telling us about how they do explosion tests or whatever and the blades might come through the fuselage. I couldn't see the engine fan though, it was too far back.
