  1. Oh, fuck. I didn't even catch that. Don't have a PS3, so I guess I won't be joining.
  2. Contemplating it. As long as it doesn't conflict with a local con around here, I'm good.
  3. Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there. I think a MoH thread would be nice, too.
  4. I believe doing co-op with your team-mates gives you mercenary money. I was an A rank earlier and I haven't done any mission since, but I'm back to S now. It's so confusing. ;o;
  5. Does anyone know the formula for how Mercenaries are ranked? At first I thought it was rated on total Au made during Merc missions, but it can't be. I was a B rank a few missions ago and I got about +40,000 from each mission since then, but my rank went back down to C. I didn't sustain too much damage, either. If no-one knows, is anyone willing to look into this with me?
  6. Thanks. I really appreciate the answer, because it was starting to bug me.
  7. Hey, so I'm curious about something. My friend and I started a team and got a bunch of our friends to join. The third member, #91 always has a blue ID. Does anyone know why? I google'd it and no-one seems to have asked, so let me be the first. http://i43.tinypic.com/6qjy9e.jpg Here's a blurry photo.

    Asura's Wrath

    I laughed. The anime's definitely worth a rent or at-least a watch, but not really a buy. At-least not until it goes down in price.
  9. Jacob Bilanovic My team and I had been waiting for three hours before the green light appeared. It was beautiful, but not as beautiful as the fat pay check we'd be getting after this job—22,000,000 in COAM. Knowing we'd be docked pay for any tardiness, Anthony, Maria and myself were already linked to our ACs; we were dropped from our airship onto the battlefield to begin our mission. With a thump, our mechanical giants landed on the thick earth. Keeping in spearhead formation, we approached our target, GA America's headquarters. Anthony was lagging behind, it seemed. Kind of ironic, assaulting GAA with a GAN01 model. His core was quite unique and an asset to any team. It uses a jury-rigged set of four bazookas, replacing his arms—like the GAN01-SS-AW bazooka-arm model, but with the barrels stacked on-top of one another. Maria's core was no slouch either. She used a Lahire type model which, although not custom-outfitted, was still pretty experimental. Her twin laser blades and rear-mounted slug gun rarely ever left any scraps. My core happened to also be a Lahire model, but not entirely. The legs were Duskaror, meaning they offered me maximum mobility. My AC was equipped with a single laser blade, a Motorcobra machine-gun and a rear-mounted grenade launcher. GAA's headquarters was finally in sight. Less than a minute before we arrived at its doors, we received a transmission. “Echo team, this is Delta. We've cleared the way for you so getting in shouldn't be a problem. As planned, we'll stay out here and guard the perimeter. You three take it out from the inside.” The building was huge, 'big box' they called it. The humour in it is that it's not a box at all—it's a big triangle. Well, triangular prism, whatever. “Roger that, Delta. Echo team commencing phase two of 'think inside the box.'” What a stupid name for a mission. Maria and I arrived at the door first, naturally, but Anthony was to enter as our point-man. After-all, he was the heaviest. Maria was in the far back which was perhaps not the best choice considering that made her blades useless, unless she planned on cutting through us to get to the enemy. I suppose she'd just have to be content as rear-guard. The interior of Big Box was made with ACs in mind, so it was fairly open. Most of the office floors were higher up while the construction was done towards the base of the building. The first floor seemed like a testing ground; scorch marks littered the otherwise pristine walls. Being a fan of GA, Anthony checked out some of the prototype weaponry scattered around the floor. Perhaps they didn't have time to clean up before our arrival. “Well, this is pretty uneventful,” I barked. Before we had time to react, a hail of gunfire hit Anthony; a pair of GAN02s and a squad of normals had just arrived on an elevator. Maria and I split up while Anthony fired his bazookas at the normals, clearing them out quickly. The first of Maria's blades couldn't quite cut through the enemy core's thick armour, although that's when the second one hit and sliced the poor guy in two. All the meanwhile, I had my grenade launcher readied. I couldn't fire it, of course, otherwise Maria would get caught in the blast. The situation was worse than it looked. The second GA core turned towards Maria and unloaded a salvo of direct-fire rockets right into her torso. The damage was enough to blow her right arm and slug gun clean off. I was tempted to fire, I honestly was. This didn't look pretty. Maria, in an impressive display of dexterity for her condition, thrust her remaining weapon into the enemy's head-piece. That wouldn't do her much good, it just cut off the pilot's visual and audio sensors. I saw it in the way she moved, she thought she had won. The enemy pilot's left arm raised itself to fire another volley of rockets at Maria. There's no way she could survive that. Fuck me, I'm going to have to intervene. I had planned on firing my launcher, but Anthony seemed to have beaten me to it. The sheer force from the explosion embedded any ACs on the receiving end into the wall of the elevator. Maria's cockpit had been blown open, but she hadn't survived the blast. Her body fell out, skin burnt off, flesh exposed. It was definitely not a pretty sight to behold. “You never hesitate, why now?” Anthony asked me, personally. “I didn't want to kill her, why else?” The heavy AC lowered his arm-weapons in doubt. “No, it was nothing like that. I guess I just blanked out, sorry.” Anthony chuckled, but I didn't find it funny. I regained my composure and nodded to myself. Maria's death just means more credits to split between the two of us. People die, that's how it is in this line of work. Anthony and I inspected the elevator. “It's fried.” I told him. “I guess the blast did it.” He didn't say anything, but it was was clear enough he agreed. With some quick thinking, I cut a hole through the top of the elevator by using my laser blade. The both of us boosted up through the floor, one by one, and invaded the second floor. This level was also open, as to allow ACs room to move, but it was filled with unpainted and unfinished GAN02 models—the ones we fought earlier. “Delta team, this is Echo. Delta come in.... ...Delta?” “I can't talk, we're facing resistance! They just arrived, a massive s-” “Delta, repeat, a massive what?” No response. “We should go help them.” Anthony concluded. Together, we over-boosted to the side of the building the entrance was on. My heavy partner blew open the only wall separating us from the outside. Delta was slaughtered; their murderers stood, surrounding Big Box. Four ACs and two Land Crabs. There was no way we could take them on. We would have to retreat. “Why aren't they shooting? They see us.” I asked Anthony, as if he would know. “They're waiting for me to get out of the line of fire.” My heart skipped a beat. “Y-you're fucking joking, right?” “No. GA approached me last week and offered to pay me 600,000 COAM if I told them when we'd be commencing the assault. I also get to walk away and say the mission was a bust. There's no way we would be able to take on all of Big Box, just the three of us. This is for the best.” “If you stay still, we can make it as painless as possible,” one of the grunts barked at me. “Eat a dick,” I responded. I slashed at Anthony, severing his right arm and cutting into his core. I could see into his cockpit now. That son of a bitch betrayed me. There's no way in hell I'll hesitate now. Both of the Land Crabs fired their main cannons at us, rendering Anthony unconscious and severely damaging my core. At-least it knocked me into the safe confines of Big Box. The hole Anthony had created earlier began to flood with ACs. One, two, three, four. That's all of them. The cores surrounded me, taunted me and ridiculed me. It was clear they weren't going to just kill me after I've invaded their home base. I tried to use my Assault armour, but one of the ACs noticed and blew my head clean off. I was without visual and thankfully without audio to hear their remarks. My core could hardly move. The two back legs and grenade launcher of my machine were coming up as red lights—they were inoperable. My radar was the only thing keeping me aware of what was going on. One of the enemy pilots climbed on-top of me and began to beat me with their dual shotguns. They weren't firing, just slamming the guns down onto my cockpit. It caused a stirring, but made me realize my two front weapons were still intact. I subtly adjusted my left arm in rhythm with the beatings, then activated my blade and killed the pilot instantly. Careless asshole. I stood, wobbly as a horse with two broken legs, and raised my Motorcobra at one of the enemy ACs. Immediately, I was shot from behind by a volley of high-speed missiles and was knocked back down to the ground. I could feel the laughter, even though I couldn't hear it. I guess I thought I was hot shit. They surrounded me once more, but in tighter formation. My grenade launcher was flickering from green to red and back again from the impact of hitting the ground. I wasn't really sure whether it would fire or not, but I took my chances. One of the three remaining ACs raised a rifle to finish me off. I could feel it press against my back—it would've gone right through the cockpit and severed me in half. I had to do something, so I activated Assault Armor once more. They noticed, but they couldn't stop me. The explosion staggered them and gave me time to fire my grenade launcher at the ground. There was a big, encompassing explosion around me. I think the enemy ACs were engulfed in it, too, but I can't tell. My radar shut off and everything went silent.. Hello? Author's notes: I realize some things were incorrect, like how if an AC's head was blown off it wouldn't be able to operate. I ignored certain things like that for the purpose of making the story more interesting, as I didn't think it would honestly take too much away from the believably of the story. I'll try to keep this short, since I honestly doubt many people would be reading this far. I expect the story to get torn to shreds. When I started writing, I wanted first and foremost that the characters be believable. I do regret not giving Maria any lines, though. Perhaps I could've fleshed her out a bit more. The story was also supposed to fit somewhere in the canon, but I don't fucking know. GA occupies Big Box so it starts off like it'd be in AC4, but then I mention the Lahire model and it becomes all whoopy shloopy, so.. Anyways, I'll respond to any questions or criticisms you guys feel like posting as soon as I can. Oh, also, all of the formatting was lost when I posted it on here so I had to re-do it all in BB-code. Hopefully I haven't missed any of it.
