  1. Let me guess. You fired a big load of bullets in Black Glint's direction? Can Black Glint be Tanked (tank; to use a tank-leg AC)?

Looking at the word 'farmed', I have a feeling the boss is easier than portrayed. Last two videos I saw involved someone either using gatling guns or rifles, and involved highly mobile ACs.

I'd advise not to do this even in co-op, due to it's assault armor style blast in it's first form, stick with a heavyweight if you need extra firepower and it's best not to do the mission alone at all.

This is my staple RJ AC, it's mainly for use in gurella style combat in areas where there's plentiful and tall enough cover and doesn't fare as good in an open area. The CIWS or Kiwis as some call them are for missile sentry users since they often place these close to or in the vary places I should be hiding in to root out a hidden AC, diversion, or to keep them away from an opposing team and in case of turrets. For those who don't know you can have 2 of the same weapon, one in both the same arm and hanger corresponding to the same arm. Love the Rose Camo, it makes some weapons ornate and beautiful and sometimes the AC itself.

  3. Bipedal ACs would never come into existence due to stability issues same with Reverse joints not practical in real life. The only way anything remotely like an AC would be made it would be a quad, 6 and 8 leg mechs are possible but if you seen The Beast from the History Channel Reality Show "Around the World in 80 Ways", you will know something like that will be extrordinarily slow, The Beast only went 2 mph, it would be a sitting duck not to mention a bitch to operate.
  4. Gatling guns aren't that good for continuous damage since most ACs will have enough defense to make them ineffective. Whereas the high damage rifles can punch through most heavies/tanks' armor.

Cool vid though. Too bad you didn't import the PS3 version :(

You can also get some of the highest damage rifles up to or close to low tier fixed BR attack power. I don't like to use them due to drain.

  5. Just wanted to restate, given some of the strong reactions, that I'm not 100% on that translation. Directionally sure, though, yes.

Honestly, I think it makes sense. This game seems to be a lot more about people playing together than against one another. I could see it being pretty annoying to hire on a couple of mercs only to enter combat and find out there's a language barrier one way or another.

That being said, I'm a little curious about just how much Namco/Bandai is doing to promote the game in the US/EU. So far...it seems like pretty much nothing. AC fans will hear about it and play it. Some mech genre fans may hear about it on related blogs. But it seems like everyone else will never hear a word. I may be missing things, but there doesn't look like there is any real attempt to grow the fan base as much as simply sell the game to people who already know they want it. C'est la vie, I suppose.

Typical US/EU AC advertising practice, it's more of a cult following here than something super marketed and super popular like Final Fantasy.

  6. Fear of server crashes?

That means... we have to rely on whose servers... oh boy.

That's not going to end well, FROM bsing importers is in bad taste and FROM giving the US bad servers is just bad practice.

Evil, just plain evil and it's not even for profit either which makes it worse.

  7. Just something I noticed today on the ACV Japanese FAQ.

    The question, roughly translated as:

Can I play with players internationally?

And the response, roughly translated as:

The Japanese and International versions are of different regions - you will not be able to play together (even) on the same hardware.

    --

I imagine that I'm not 100% spot on in these translations, but I think I'm directionally correct. It sounds like online play will be region locked...if someone could double check this, that would be fantastic. If this is the case, and you only have the US version, it may not matter what setups the Japanese players are typically fielding...

    I read that this evening.

Bullshit Bay City, FROM why did you do this?

Especially because i imported the game, this is not Monster Hunter or Phantasy Star region free your servers.

Now I can't play American noobs

Oh and the 2nd DLC garage is awesome.

  8. That's great! In general I haven't found a whole lot of people interested in playing the role a lot, so that's definitely good to hear.

The big issue with that is what happens when you have you have five people in your team online at a certain time and no one wants the Operator position?

I actually didn't know about the live video thing when I tried the demo online so I was handicapped. Still did okay I guess.

I think it's only in the full game.

  9. haha why would anyone invade alone?.. Anyhow, here's a review I saw on facebook today from ACO. Seems like this game is making a really good impression.

Some territories are even held by one AC, that's how I got a territory by getting lucky and doing a dominion battle with only 1 AC opponent, however I lost it 3 days ago to a team filled with dual sawa ACs. I've also been in 5 emergency situations where I've only faced 1 AC vs 3 mercs and myself.

  10. Sub computers are really good for battle rifles, sniper rifles, cannons, and heat cannons since it buffs their lock speed a lot. Also any nearby team mates get some lock speed bonus and missile lock speed bonus so they are good for team players. And the bonuses get doubled when you have 2 shoulder weapon slots I think.

The UAV launches a thingy up above your head and then switches your view to that of the UAV looking straight down at your AC. The UAV follows you around like a float recon. When you have the UAV out you cant aim up or down and it will go away if you go into scan or OW mode.

I'll try out the sub computer for sure, I need the lock bonus combined with my use of wide angled FCS, and lock speed doubled with dual shoulder arms sounds pretty good, it should be useful on a heavyweight RJ and definitely a tank. The UAV seems to be more for scout units and snipers.

  11. he called a ciws a kiwi, ahahaha.

Heavy reverse joint seems to fit the bill for midweight RJ, tbh. and some of them look pretty baller.

Howitzers are basically traditional grenade cannons.

You can make a middleweight RJ with the lighter heavy RJ legs, it feels a little different than a middleweight RJ but you'll get used to it.

lol at CIWS called Kiwi I call them vulcans due to seeing Gundams use vulcan guns like CIWS to intercept missiles. They pretty much fire like vulcans anyway.

I haven't seen any rail cannon usage in pvp or anywhere else maybe the reload time is turning people off.

Is there any use for the sub computers outside of missions and what do UAVs do? never used them at all.

  12. Wait wait, EOs are back? As an equip-able shoulder unit? That's really cool actually.

How are grenade cannons in the game? I'm thinking I'll likely run with one of those. And are there grenade rifles?

The howitzers are great, like plasma guns don't fire them at point blank or you'll take heavy splash damage,Splash damage in ACV actually does some real damage.

The counter guns are like EOs but fire when you get hit, good for missions with Schnt and schnt 3 units and opposing ACs with gatling guns and rifles.

  13. ACV promoting and requiring communication, promoting yes, but requiring is a stretch, I've played many free battles in PvP without anyone using mics, never done a co-op mission with mic usage either, the only time I ever even used mics was when I was an operator during free matches and even then there's no guarantee the host and other players use them 1/2 the time they don't use them. As for the cookie cutter arguement, it is true for this series, I see cookie cutter about 45-60% of PvP matches, 70% of missions, and 90% of intrude missions that result in Emergency scenerios.

This from my experience playing online.

  14. When they say "exclusive" do they mean that nobody else will offer you that deal, or that you can't get it in game without them?

It hope it's only the former. Pre-order bonuses piss me off if you can't get them in-game.

I doubt you can't get them in game, even the parts from the strategy guide and from my subscription of Weekly Famitsu can be obtained in-game.

  15. There is also a Recon Pack pre-order bonus for pre-oredering from Amazon. I don't have the details right now but its on the English ACV site.

no details yet but it sounds like sniper equipment and all recon and high tier head units.

As for that spreadsheet, try adding the performance categories and stats after it's fully tuned.
