  1. Just curious, is there an ACU group for us UK players, or am I the only one? I've been busy with work but finally sat down last night to play my copy of AC5. Just going through the single-player content first, but my world map thing is mostly controlled by a single team, with another team pretty much controlling all but one territory of what's left.
  2. Below Radar will now also prevent the lock on of Stinger and IGLA missiles.

Apology accepted DICE, thanks for making me into a god now.

Meh, they'll probably change their mind before the final patch notes anyway.

  3. Jammers in this game are all serious shit. FCS jammers will fuck you up. Generator jammers will fuck you up. Movement jammers will fuck you up. Even Recon jammers can fuck you up (situational lololol). Don't underestimate jammers. My LW is entirely built around them with no actual weapons besides the ability to kick. It doesn't even use shoulder weapons, I have a dual shoulder subcomputer there to buff my teammates lock speeds instead. You would be amazed at how easy it is to kill handicapped people. Jammers make handicapped people.

I've only read about FCS and recon jammers, I had no idea there are also movement and generator jammers too. This changes things for me quite a bit, I can see myself building an unarmed unit similar to yours Neji. It does indeed seem as though jammers are now serious business and a jammer which causes an 80% output loss? That shit cray.

  4. I'm most excited about the helicopter changes which is news to me.

I felt that helicopters had been weakened a little too much but the changes make sense.

Hell all the changes make sense and this is partly why DICE have whisked me away from Infinity Ward lately.

  5. If you join a team, it depends on how seriously they take the game. Those who are very competitive and play solely to win will strive for the most balanced and effective units even if it means sacrificing the personal preference of some of its members. There will of course be just as many if not more teams out there for people who want the advantages of working together but not to the extent where they feel it's necessary to leave their comfort zone just to attain victory. Oh and at the very bottom you have mercenaries which I doubt will be blamed for using their preferred weight class or tactics because they are, at the end of the day, outsiders who have little interest in the internal politics of that team.
  6. Here is an ambush setup by one of the well known players from the xbox, wktk:

Ambush from How to properly play a team-centric LW

The lack of a mini-map in Armored Core V is probably one of my favourite (missing) things.

Keeping yourself hidden and a certain distance from the enemy, reducing the risk of their operator spotting you with recon drones dropped near their team, then utilising your speed to get in, drop some FCS jammers to buy you more time and cover your escape, do some damage and get out before their operator has time to warn the team about what already happened. I shouldn't get too carried away though, I want to have the game in my hands to fully understand its workings before I start day dreaming about all the things I can do to be a nuisance to my opponents.

  7. Nomra, good news, the AS VAL will be receiving an extended mag attachment in a future patch as far as I'm aware.

Although I enjoy playing every class, I spend a lot of time as Recon playing a designated marksman role. The SKS is my weapon of choice, and for slightly larger maps I roll with an EMR for the extra bullet velocity and increased minimum damage. One could also say I adore piloting attack helicopters, something many people on Xbox Live seem to also enjoy but are terrible at.

This may be a repost but if not I think you may enjoy it.

  8. The AK-47 for style points maybe, but not a gun to be taken seriously. I'm partial to the UMP45 for styling on people, exclusively for the high penetration. Reminds me of the good old days in Call of Duty 4 when you could consistently wall-bang people with the AK-74u. How are you guys finding the new maps anyway? I have an Elite subscription but haven't been active on the game for over a month, Skyline looks a bit gimmicky from the limited footage I've seen.
  9. I didn't bother reading the four pages of suggestions to make my own so if someone has already mentioned this one then I apologise for being a spastic. Electric Retard is one I find so random and disgusting that it makes me laugh out loud, also banned in Germany apparently. Many of the suggestions you guys made are comics I also follow, I was quite pleased to see someone eve mention Gone With The Blastwave, I used to enjoy reading that one quite a bit.

Also I didn't link to Electric Retard directly on purpose, use Google. It's a little bit NSFW.

  10. This may have already been answered but this topic seems suitable for such 'fire and forget' questions: if someone is in a team, does this mean they can no longer be a mercenary, or does it reduce the options they would have as a mercenary compared to someone who wasn't in a team? Hell, are there are disadvantages for joining a team at all from what you guys can tell? I doubt there is, but worth asking just in case.

I dunno wtf was the heavyweight doing though, he could've just looked back or at least took cover.

Interesting. I like the ambush from above, not so much what felt like a bit of a mess once he landed.

  11. Lights are honestly best at harassment roles, rather than direct damage roles. If you want to play a very aggressive/destructive LW, the best thing to do is equip the ULG-21 MW legset and lay on some very large weapons and then go charge someone down. If you stick to a LW it's better to do hit and run, guerrilla warfare, or recon.

This is how I play, so I'm pleased to hear there's still a place for lightweight specialists. Assuming I'm happy with the effective radius of these jammer bubbles, they sound like something I'll be using often, especially FCS jamming. Oh boy, to think I have one more month to wait for this game.

  12. So they can scan me through walls if they know I'm hiding behind something. Interesting… Still, they don't have a mini-map so as long as the rest of my team is keeping them busy I could get away with packing a fast hit and run style design. It seems as though it'll be easier to be sneaky in ACV compared to AC4 but I can't use it as a major part of my strategy.

Oh! I've also been meaning to ask; do the dedicated servers make for a huge improvement compared to ACFA which was very good at hiding the fact the game was lagging at a terrible rate? It quickly became apparent to me that specialising in a very light frame was not worth it because the lag made it impossible to dodge shots on reaction.

Assuming the bullet velocity hasn't shot up for most weapons, do you guys feel it's now much more viable to have a very light frame (similar to the Sombrero from AC4) which can swiftly get behind the enemy line, pop some shots or harass a few targets whilst avoiding return fire and then retreating again?

  13. Can anyone point me to a detailed explanation on exactly what scan mode can do? I'm interested to find out just how viable it is to remain hidden compared to AC4. Are there parts you can equip to bolster your scanning abilities or to suppress the abilities of enemy ACs? I'd love to have a speedy light unit which can get in and out without attracting too much attention if you know what I mean.
  14. Do you have any gameplay up yet or is this still in the feedback stage? I would appreciate a link to a YouTube channel or three where I can enjoy some decent quality Armored Core V gameplay footage, especially multiplayer versus. I'm a bit behind on my information for this game and right now I'm in the mood for lots of watching and not so much reading.
  15. When building an AC I'm always having that good old internal battle between form and function. I'm really into the aesthetics of things but I also primarily play to win, it's a testing balancing act to say the least.

I often start out with something designed to look good and go fast, but then I start to lose again people who actually think when fighting. I see the flaw in my design (or in myself) and I correct it, because I know I'm not going to win if I stubbornly leave things as they are.

With dedicated servers I'm hoping there will be a major reduction in lag, making lightweight designs which depend on speed and cover to effectively block/dodge incoming fire much more viable.
