  1. I use modified Type A, default Type A is horrible. R1: Right arm weapon R2: Left arm weapon L1: Boost L2: Inside X: Purge Triangle: Change weapon O: look reset (I put this as far out as possible to prevent accidental pressing)
  2. So, I got the first video uploaded and linked. Feel free to give me any advice and such to help me improve. If you want to get crazy in-depth, feel free. I think I'd enjoy reading that.
  3. I am trying to win matches and such, but it's not my life passion or anything. I'm just saying that whether I win or lose, I'm trying to have fun in the process. There's also the challenge of making some things that aren't natural for me work (coughArcticStormcough). Does that make sense?
  4. Well, got the 8 replays uploading now, may not be able to get them all in 1 sitting though (not being uploaded in order they happened, I'll link them in the order they happened). As for Nob's backpedaling stuff, it does leave a sour taste but nothing that makes me want to not play Nob. I still had fun, but I prefer fighting TMRaven due to his higher level of skill and just more interesting playstyle. I don't have anything against a passive playstyle, but constant backpedaling with say idk, dual MVs with dual HPs is annoying. It does present an interesting challenge and is different than TM. My biggest issue is when every single match is constant backpedaling. Once in a while is fine with me though. Also, I prefer trying to destroy the enemy AC over getting AP lead and running. I did used to backpedal a lot, but I try not to anymore. I'm actually trying to make my playstyle more active. As PD said, the video with me against him does make me feel bad. Oh wait, I deny playing that match. That was sarcasm for those of you who couldn't tell. As for planning to deal with it and such, I sort of care and sort of don't. I'm not trying to prove I'm the best or anything. I could probably get a lot more wins against TM if I restrict myself to my stronger designs (Disruption, my new MW Deviation, maybe Red Eyed Tree Frog), but that would probably get boring. I just want to build robots and fight robots made by other players piloted by other players. Watching myself improve is just part of the fun. So Nob, please try to increase variety with how you play and maybe what you use. At least 2 of your designs used dual HP from what I remember. SO, ARCTIC STORM. The setup I am using now seems to work the best for me (any changes will be with the missiles). It's a pretty quirky design, but it works well enough for me. A handgun or rifle instead of GRIFFON just feels wrong to me. I like the current setup since when I go on the offensive, I have dropped most everything on my design. Of course, I think the idea of get AP lead and playing footsies is something I want to try more. As for the matches being uploaded (not every single fight), here is the order they occured VS TMRaven, around a week ago VS TMRaven, yesterday VS Nob, yesterday
  5. Well, I've got a full memory card of replays. 2 fights against TMRaven, both featuring Milksop (1 of which is from a session before yesterday). The other 6 matches are against Nob, who I believe doesn't understand the concept of boosting forward more than like MAYBE 5 times in a whole match. As for Arctic Storm and my progress with it... I haven't been getting wins out of it, but that's hard against somebody with way more experience than I have AND it happens that TMRaven happens to have fought people like DaCapn and Bato-something? I think I got that right. On other words, TM knows how to keep range against aggressors which makes it pretty hard for me to get results. It's still fun though. I find the passive to aggressive transition in a match is a viable strategy, but the key is to get AP lead so that you can control the match. This is the version I'm happiest with right now, may need to mess with the missiles more. I don't like the PANTHER legs, I feel they don't have enough turning. They fit on my dual HP LW, Revolver Ocelot though (it's more of a joke build than anything) since they give that "western" look with the feet and such. Now, I'm running L2 legs with no stability optional part. Does it matter? Well, it's more of an Achille's Heel than a flaw I see throughout a whole match. Basically, if I get caught with a hard land and my opponent can strike then, I'm probably done (with stability, I'd probably at least take massive damage). It was pretty funny watching myself get obliterated. I'll let TMRaven explain this further. Oh, I need to get better with URCHIN. I've hit my own more than a few times, sometimes in matches where I was doing well. It was painful. So, I should have matches up soon after I feel like recording them.
  6. Yeah, I'm already looking at not spamming GRIFFON (missiles on the other hand, spamspamspam). I need to make my shots count with GRIFFON and I've made some use out of it (that's the main reason why I'm keeping it). So, I guess carefully timed GRIFFON shots should help me with energy if I stick with no batteries. As for decreased damage potential, I guess it was just me wasting shots. Of course, it does have low damage potential overall, but it can provide a lot of damage in a short amount of time. As for me just playing a range game, I know the 1 video up is an early match from the first session where I tried the design out. In later matches, I have played more aggressively with it. There was also Garden Hose which actually managed to get more results than Arctic Storm but still felt wrong. Lack of OB seemed to be a bigger issue with it than I thought. I also don't want to use DINGO2 due to it being a MW legset and therefore doesn't have the right feel to me on this particular design. But yeah, it's just a matter of forcing myself to keep using this design to learn it. As for clone Yaka bot, it's certainly a good design, but I want to have something with a shred of originality besides name and paint (provided such a thing is even possible). I'll probably stick with the frame I'm trying out for increased handling and speed. Oh yeah, I'm not the biggest fan of the look of PANTHER. I also have the missiles in an attempt to build a larger AP lead than I can with just GRIFFON alone. So, I guess current strategy is as follows: open up with missiles and some GRIFFON shots. If need be, purge missiles early for massive speed and a decent energy boost. After missiles are purged, don't use GRIFFON in a spammy way, but try to get as much out of it as possible and then drop it for another speed and energy boost. After that, probably a hit-and-run offense. So, I guess this design may transition from defensive to offensive usage as a match continues. All of this is liable to change pending usage in PvP since this whole plan could be crap for all I know.
  7. I also happen to like firearms. I sadly don't get to shoot much but I've done a lot of research on firearms. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I do know a lot. I also have a Mosin Nagant rifle that I took apart and removed the Cosmoline from. It's a fun rifle to shoot.
  8. IIRC somewhere earlier in this thread I believe Taurus drew an MOA AC which had the FAMAS looking gun. I'm too lazy to try and find it. If the joke is related to that then maybe I did get it, idk.

Well, I've experimented some more and feel like I have something that may work. http://i.imgur.com/zt10CvZ.jpg The idea is a relentless attack, whether it be during aggressive or during defensive play. L2 is used for handling and increased speed. Due to the usage of PHAGE, I can't really find a way to fit in the stability optional part unless I don't use PHAGE, but that could result in energy issues. Testing in PvP will determine if that will be a major issue or not. The game shows landing (ability to absorb impact of landing iirc) and defense (ability to absorb attacks) stability with the overall stability stat seeming to describe more defense stability than landing stability, which means that just maybe landing stability isn't affected. I'm probably wrong though. The idea is to fire the GRIFFON and purge it quickly and hopefully the missiles as well. NYMPHE/GAR is used with LIMPET for massive missile salvos. The missiles can be used defensively so that this AC isn't limited to CQC which can result in more damage than intended. GRIFFON/missiles will hopefully result in a nice AP lead with aggressive maneuvers to finish the job. The biggest issue I can see with this is no batteries for early game GRIFFON usage, but perhaps piloting can overcome that plus sometimes the nature of PvP matches with position changes and such could provide energy regain time. I'm thinking this design should work ok except for maybe GRIFFON not synchronizing well with it, but I can just put R3 on it and adjust optionals to have something similar to Black Mamba again except with more fun missiles. Or maybe batteries/69M again but different frame. That concept did seem to work but VIXEN legs aren't that good. I know I'm not the most aggressive pilot, but I've still gotten some results with some of the variations of this thing. Not many wins (maybe just 1), but I've been able to get something out of it (some close matches, some AP gap closed some, etc), so I'm not completely helpless in the thing. It's also pretty fun to try and use, and I guess now fun is all that really matters. If I don't get notable progress next time, then I guess it really isn't for me, which will make me sad.

  12. Why would the Queen use French weapons? SCAR H/MK 17 So, the idea with the first Queen was that Taurus would draw it without any input from me, so that's "his" version. After that, I gave him details on what my image is and then he made the second Queen. So, out of curiosity, is there any Queen that you people prefer?
  13. Don't worry about it, it definitely gave me at the least some stuff to consider for this AC. It was also nice to see how Yaka meant for 3 Cherries (now I know what it's called, thanks). As for DINGO2, it just feels wrong for some reason. As for what I want out of this design: I want an AC built to be very aggressive. I guess my piloting issues are from a combination of lack of experience and perhaps not my style (in AC at least, other things like I like to be aggressive). I want to try and become more aggressive overall with my designs though. One of my new designs (the R2/HP MW, currently named "Shifting Fire", but I'm not sure I want to keep that) seems to work well for me due to it's versatility. I guess maybe go back to the drawing board to make something that works good for me may be the best thing I can do. So, where to go with this... I still want this AC to be primarily aggressive. Perhaps adding in the option for defensive play may work. Why does that sound like Black Mamba to me... ugh. I'll figure something out with this. So, is OB important for an aggressive design? I'm thinking of maybe going without it. I'll try and figure out something. This design does not make me happy right now despite my plan to make this 1 of fave ACs. Why do I see myself scrapping this thing in the future...
  14. DINGO2 doesn't seem to work for this AC. As for GRIFFON, the biggest issue I have with it is longevity. It doesn't last long and lacks overall damage potential. I'm playing around with this AC and it seems that I can fit a handgun under PIXIE3 (if I really try) in the case of needing more ammo. There's also maybe going to S4/L2 combo again on frame. The handling difference and speed increase is really nice, but of course all my opinions may change upon PvP testing. I want this AC to work so bad.
  15. I guess the best thing I can do now is put DINGO2 on it and add a missile launcher for ammo security and then learn to pilot it.

First file may have designs pretty similar to other people's designs (I'd say Disruption is the closest to anything, particularly 2 parts away from Ultraviolent I want to say, and that's just right arm weapons), but it's my take on stuff. Hover file because I can and it makes sense for the Queendom to have more than 1 or 2 hovers. Not all of the hovers will be made to be as competitive as possible (I have a large missile hover, might make a missile boat as well). Also, Niji is interested in seeing what I create. I'll probably just put all 5 in 1 post. Speaking of hovers, TM, what did you use on Beak? I caught ENCHIDNA2 and GRIFFON which isn't what's in your garage as of this post. My tank file will probably contain the 3 tanks I already have, my float tank from a while back, and super buff and slow heavy with dual H3 and dual HARPY2 with the SALENA core and URCHIN because I can. It doesn't even break 300 speed with TP.
  17. Head was DRONE. I guess I'll look at it again. If I do the HARPY/RM2 route, I'll probably put S3 legs on it (why do I feel like I've tried this already?). I still need to test Drakes of Wrath to see if it's any good (I'm feeling like it's not). I just need to figure out what 10 ACs I want in my competitive selection. Below is what I'm thinking atm. I'll get to names and paint for the concept ACs at some point. I may move stuff around (mainly the second file) if I get better with things like hovers and tanks. Competitive File 1 Inquisitor (81G MW Biped Jouster, I'm mostly set with this design) Arctic Storm (Extreme Aggression Biped, still needs work) Disruption (SHADE/FENRIR MW Biped, very happy with this design) Panzerfaust (GERYON3/GL MW Quad, pretty decent design) Red Eyed Tree Frog (Missile Dropper LRJ, still needs some work) Competitive File 2 Concept 1 (Versatile MW Biped, very happy with this) Slot not yet filled Concept 3 (BP HW Biped, pretty good, need to work on piloting) Concept 4 (RS/R3 OB MW Biped, pretty happy, again need work on piloting) Concept 5 (SHADE/R3 Super Buff MW Biped, needs work) I plan on having 2 more files: 1 dedicated to hovers and 1 with some tanks and something else, maybe I'll dedicate it to tanks, lol. Hmm, maybe a file or 2 of some other people's designs as well... I'll figure out what I want.
  18. This AC hasn't brought me the most success, but that's partially due to piloting. The current setup I have is S2//UL2/FG/PANTHER with PIXIE3/GRIFFON w/handgun and URCHIN. It is a good setup, but I'm just not sure it it's the best for me (it can run into ammo issues). DINGO2 legs seem so appealing (more load, more AP, more speed, more turning, less energy drain). Part of me is considering going back to the drawing board with this thing. The only thing that I'm really set on is an aggressive AC. Anybody got any ideas on perhaps another direction I could go or tips on how to pilot this thing better?
  19. Well, most of my fights today with TMRaven involved 5 new designs each named "Concept #". The tally as for matches today: Drac wins: 8, TM wins: 16 (12 not counting me going OOB by accident) Concept 1: R2/HP with HARPY/NYMPHE/RM3 on EYE3/UL/MACAQUE/COUGAR2. I tried U4 with it, but UL (not /UL) felt way better. This design is probably 1 of my best due to it's versatility. R2/HP can be played many ways and HARPY/NYMPHE/RM3 provide some good support. Will be named and painted. Concept 2: some quad with GERYON and R2/HP again. I didn't really like it, GERYON doesn't seem to be good on quads. Concept 3: a FA heavy using BP/HP and the HARPY/NYMPHE/RM3 combo again. Not a bad design, but I need to learn how to deal with pressure better. BP can deliver. Will be named and painted. Concept 4: RS/R3 with 69M/RM3 on S2//UL/MACAQUE/DINGO2. A pretty good design but /UL over /UL2 may not have been the best decision, but it still works. I like how /UL allows me to change position faster with the more powerful OB. Oh yeah, it's the design in the 1 recording I got. Will be named and painted. Concept 5: another FA heavy (but bulkier than Concept 3) with HARPY/NYMPHE/RM3 and SHADE/R3. Wasn't bad, but it seemed to have some energy issues for some reason (lower energy would lead to less moving and 98G shots to the face). I don't plan to further develop this design.
  20. Huh, interesting. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to put with RETF other than the missiles (missiles are set on it). I guess I still need to experiment.
