Time for me to talk about one of my favorite games, a very underrated game I must add. Ecco: The Tides of Time For those who dont know, this was a game released for the Sega Genesis, as well as the Sega Saturn but I am strictly speaking for the Genesis release. It is the second game in the series. In the game you play as a Dolphin named Ecco and it is your job to defend the planet from an alien species titled "The Vortex". The game seemed innocent at first glance sneaking its way into young childrens Sega's, but underneath the soft dolphin exterior was a hardcore action adventure game, with some very eerie music and environments. The game was hard as nails, quite possibly the hardest game I have ever played, and the unnerving atmosphere and moody music made matters even worse. This is a game I will always remember and appreciate, it could get very intense at times, very stressful, but the highly original setting and atmosphere kept going. Easily on of my favorite aspects of the game was its incredible soundtrack, one of the main reasons the game felt the way it did. Some of my favorite songs from the game. Title Theme- Two Tides- Inside- Tube of Medusa- Fault Zone- Aqua Tubeway- Big Water- Here are some screenshots I took to enjoy with the music. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/ecco2pic3.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/ecco2pic4.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/ecco2pic6.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/ecco2pic2.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/ecco2pic1.jpg

The comic speaks truth, anyone wielding that thing would look really stupid. How could anyone even come up with a design that impractical?

I am sorry, I do not know what that fancy blade is from . Anyways, love the topic! I've always really liked Flails. They were always the most badass medieval weapon to me, they looked absolutely threatening. One time when I was young I took a strong stick and a softball sized wiffle ball and connected the two together with a chain of duct tape, it was truly was awesome. I like flails with both handle lengths, but I dont like flails with more than one spiked ball. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Spiked_Flail_medium.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Maces__Flails_Flail_2605_122.jpg

Super Metroid and Devil May Cry were two games I was planning on getting to at some point. Super Metroid absolutely captured my imagination as a young child, I literally felt like I was there. That game was soaked in quality, soaked in pure gold actually. The music had so much impact, very atmospheric, very otherworldy, very lonely. Favorite songs.. The atmospheric music that plays when you first exit your ship onto the planets rainy surface ready to dwelve into the unknown, Lower and Upper Brinstar, as well as both sections of Maridia, that place made me feel the most lonely. The world needs more games like this, I swear theres real magic in that cartridge. The music from the first Devil May Cry revved me up so damn much. That game is unbelievably good, to this day I still say that its the best action game ever made, I'd love to see one better, but its just not happening. Insanely great music combined with insanely well made gameplay, this game is intense. Favorite songs include psycho siren, which plays mainly when you fight the Sin Scythes, and the fight music for when you first encounter the Blades in the colliseum area. Lock & Load- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lMCMbeYJFc...feature=related Psycho Siren- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMFQboI0JRc I suppose I'll try and compose a list of all games with my favorite music. Silent Hill Castlevania Metal Gear Solid (1 mainly) S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Final Fantasy Ecco the Dolphin Streets of Rage Devil May Cry (1 mainly) Metroid (2 and Super Metroid) Diablo (The first one) Chrono Trigger Armored Core- Easily one of the best Video Game tracks I have ever heard. Command & Conquer (I've only played the first one, and loved the tracks)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO__oRr59_s Alien 3 (for Sega)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_vh-_wnjlA Mortal Kombat (The second game)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5ho71R7BJg...feature=related Jurassic Park (for sega)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmkrRNhnsts...feature=related Sonic (1, 2, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl4vA4Wd07Q...feature=related Street Fighter (the second game)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK1C0uj27xU...feature=related In all seriousness Guiles theme should be the new American Anthem. Gunstar Heroes- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8_h_MnMk0k Resident Evil (The first one)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEcNTGA5kEk This is one of the most relaxing songs I have ever heard in my life, if you read this please check it out. Vectorman (Vectorman's a serious badass)- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2cHzxf_1V8 Chakan- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cTwQnn16pw Those are all I can think of off the top of my head, may have missed some. I'll probably dedicate a post to Ecco the Dolphin soon.

    The Firearm Thread

Some guns I like. Heres are two Walther firearms I appreciate. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/waltherwa2000.jpg The WA2000, a semi-automatic bullpup sniper rifle designed in the late 1970's. It was designed in response to the 1972 Munich Olympic Massacre. The whole gun is designed around channeling recoil in a linear fashion back into the shooters shoulder for comfortable firing. The barrel is floated for cooling and to better handle vibrations and the front clamp on the barrel prevents the gun from fractional lifting upon firing. The bullpup configuration allows a more compact design, maintaining a long barrel while keeping the overall gun length to a minimum. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/walther-p38.jpg The Walther P-38, one of the most recognizable pistols of German origin, developed to replace the Luger. Gotta love the Megatron gun. Also I like the curious design of these two recoil operated revolvers. The British Webley Fosbery with its daring design, it worked well under good conditions, but under dirty conditions the machanism proved fragile. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/webleyfosberry.jpg Thanks to the Webley Fosbery we now have the Mateba. The Mateba is a Italian recoil operated revolver. Some interesting facts on the Mateba, Its upper assembly containing the barrel, cylinder and frame slides on rails connected to the lower assembly. Unlike conventional revolvers which require you to manually cock the hammer either by pulling the hammer back or by pulling the trigger, the Mateba cocks the hammer during the rearward motion of the recoil phase, the Mateba also rotates the cylinder on its forward motion. Also the Mateba's barrel is alligned with the bottom of the cylinder (6 o'clock postion) which is for directing the recoil into the shooters hand reducing muzzle flip which is common in revolvers. I also really like how it looks. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/mateba.jpg I'll also list the Sturmgewehr 44 "Storm Rifle", the father of the assault rifle. Developed in Nazi Germany during World War II, it fired from a 30 round clip at a cyclical rate of 500 rpm. One of the most innovative and influential firearms in history, and is widely thought as the direct inspiration for the AK47. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/mp44.jpg Heres the gun I'm hopefully looking to get. The Ruger Mini-14. Heres are two fancy photos of this solid rifle. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/ruger_mini_14.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/mini14.jpg Heres the Belgian made FN P90. One of my favorite modern firearms due to its highly innovative design. It was made as a submachine gun with better stopping power, utilizing the new, more powerful 5.7x28mm round. One of the coolest aspects of the gun is that the magazine lies flat along the top of the gun, sending rounds to the rear. Empty cases are ejected down through the pistol grip. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/fn-p90_henrik-lantz.jpg One of my favorite modern assault rifles is the HK G36 developed in Germany by Heckler & Koch. I absolutely love the look and its highly reliable build quality. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/Guns/G36RIFLE.jpg

Black Omen is a great song, jazzy and smooth . Out of all the RPG's FF6 will always be my favorite. Also from FF4, I really like this song remake they did for the DS version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0h2V8CFtGZE I heard the same thing. Also I'd love there to be a new Streets of Rage and have him work his magic on that. I'd also love to see Tsuranga rave to this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xufo-XZyyJw...feature=related Maybe he'll read this and make it happen.

Glad to see some great taste going down! Final Fantasy 6 is easily my favorite FF title and one of my favorite games in general, I grew up on that game. Theres so many songs from that game I'll remember for the rest of my life. Coin of Fate, Terra's Theme, Dancing Mad, Searching for Friends to list a few At the Final Fantasy orchestra (Which the great Nobuo Uematsu attended and I saw in the flesh) We had the opportunity to cheer for the song we wanted added to their setlist, Clash on the Big Bridge (ff5), Jenova(ff7), Fight With Seymour(ff10), Dancing Mad(ff6), and Force Your Way(ff8) were all named, I made sure to cheer loudest for Dancing Mad and Clash on the Big Bridge, as expected though everyone went wild over Jenova. In the end Jenova and Dancing Mad won that contest im pretty sure. Also witnessing Terra's theme live was one of the greatest moments of my life. Its cool that you should mention the music from Actraiser. Lately I've been on a huge Streets of Rage kick, turns out Yuzo Koshiro, the same composer for Actraiser, composed most of the music for all three Streets of Rage games. Streets of Rage's intense hardcore techno beats always got me pumped to Bare Knuckle some thugs, also the boss battle music was absolutely wicked. Heres a great compilation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-64UQoUURA http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a291/Nomrah/streetsofrage3small.jpg That game had some awesome music.

    Video Game Music

Video Game music is something I've always greatly appreciated. Its a young genre in comparison to most, and its interesting to see how its just beginning to break out into a more "respectable" stage in the world of music. The fans who grew up on video games are getting older, and with it, a generation that has grew to respect the medium. I never would have imagined at the age of seven that some day I'd get to watch and hear Final Fantasy compositions performed live in concert. Great video game music greatly enhances your playing experience and helps create a powerful sense of mood and atmosphere. It can often stay with you long after you finish the game. This topic is dedicated to Video Game music you find worth noting, music thats left a lasting impression on you for one reason or another. Hears some of my favorite music heard in video games. I'll keep my list short for now. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night: One of the greatest games accompanied by one of the greatest soundtracks. I own the complete soundtrack and I will never get bored of it. Michiru Yamane is a musical genius to create such elaborate melodies in so many varied styles. All of the songs are rich in detail, quality, and atmosphere. Link to "Dance of Pales" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3zIJ5wgaA8 one of my favorite songs from the game. Other songs I'd recommend checking out.... Crystal Teardrops, Wandering Ghosts, Rainbow Cemetery, Wood Carving Partita, although they're all worth checking out. Silent Hill series: Akira Yamaoka is a composer who really takes video game music seriously. His compositions add an extremely deep level of depth to the overall playing experience, filling the game with a very powerful sense of atmosphere. All of the music fits perfectly into the game, from the more traditional structured music heard when encountering characters, to the heavily atmospheric and industrial sounds heard when deep in the games dark atmosphere. I own five Silent Hill soundtracks and I can honestly say its some of the highest quality music I own. I've even grown a strong taste for atmospheric ambient music thanks to the games, one of the soundtracks is 80 minutes long and only contains the purely environmental ambient music of Silent Hill 2, I listen to that whenever I'm doing something creative. Heres one of my favorite songs from the series, the main theme of Silent Hill 2. and I can't leave out this song very relaxing. I could go on, but I'll save that for another time.
