  1. Yeah, I use one of those sigs on GameSpot. I, however, thouroughly enjoy the M249 and Defibrillator combo. Got 8 defib kills, 10 revives, and 37 SAW kills in one match. That was fun... I can't wait to get either the RDS or 4x scope for my M249, though. Very excited.
  2. I've only had a squad full of snipers once - and they were all on my friends list so we did pretty damn good. One guy would sit way off the map with a 12x zoom, telling the others where enemies were, and picking off any that got too close to the objective that the other three missed. Unfortunately, we were on a crap team, and got pushed back to the "Last Stand" section of Arica in about ten minutes. A was gone about 2 minutes later, and we (My squad and me) held B by ourselves for about 10 minutes. I'll also let it be known that the M249 saved my ass in multiple situations here. I'll take a ridiculous RoF over a powerful LMG any day.
  3. The M95 is a beast of a gun. It made me change my mind about leveling Medic and Engineer (well, maybe not engineer. ROCKETS!). Anyway, I do sit back and snipe, but if I realize my team is failing or just doing jack shit I will switch my primary to a shot gun and go set charges and attempt to hold down the fort until it goes off (I've killed myself with Destruction 2.0 a number of times now). M95 M1911 C4 on Conquest or Defending, Mortar on Offense 12x Spotter Scope Vehicle Alternate Weapon Package (this makes light tanks rape face. 30mm Chain Gun and TOW missile? Hell yeah!)
  4. All right, that sounds ok. I really only used SIRIUS because it has more ammo (24 vs the 16 trigger-pulls w/ Acrux) and because I'd been using Acrux as my default Hi-Laser weapon. Bu switching that will save me, IIRC, nearly a thousand weight units, so I could pput more tunes in something else.
  5. Ok, would you suggest the Acrux or the EC-0300/0307AB? I want a (Hi)Laser weapon on this Next.
  6. Frame: All Aaliyah. R Arm: 04-MARVE L Arm: Motorcobra R Back: Saline-05 L Back: Sirius Main: Latona Back: Aaliyah Side: Lahire Over: Linstant Gen: Lahire FCS: Hogire (might switch to Judith) Tuning: 50 in ENO, ENC, KPO, Lock Speed, MS Lock Speed, Arm Maneuverability, Main QB, Vertical Thrust. 17 in Load, 25 in side QB. Basic attempt at a balanced 1v1 full Aaliyah. Slight EN issues during sustained flight while using the SIRIUS, but nothing overly problematic.
  7. I'm not getting defens- Shit. Anyway, got the my first two Gold Stars today (in the same match, no less!), for C4 and the M1911, and I'm well on my way with the SV98. I want to try the GOL, which I recently unlocked, but I've got a thing going with the SV98, so I'm afraid to change. Also, tried out Medic, and ended up trying to single-fire snipe people with my PKM >.< I have Recon in my blood.
  8. You know, I was thinking, maybe we could make platform-based clans from ACU? Like, all the PS3 people in a clan, the X360, etc. Do you think that could work?
  9. Well, I've been playing it, gotta say, I love it. I just use the "Play Now" feature, and select any game. I usually end up on the upper half of my team, if not in the top three or four. I've been using Recon, and recently got the 12x zoom. I can't wait to play on Isla Inocentes again >. That was fun with the regular scope. 12x should be better. SV98 M1911 C4 Motion Mine 12x Zoom None Vehicle Alternate Weapon Package
  10. If I like MW2, what will I think of this? I've read the whole topic and it sounds really cool, but honestly, how good is it compared to MW2? I'm still probably going to buy it in a few hours, but hey, which is better? Is it easier to snipe in this game? I've heard there is no scope sway. Also, this has the XM8 and the Dragunov? I am DEFINITELY going to buy this (if my mom lets me. Then again, she broke down with MW2, now that I have another M game it should be easier).
  11. Yeah I figured that out XD. Anyway, I think I declare the Cauldron Born to be the greatest mech in the game. It's weight allows you to run it as an assault mech, or something faster with lighter weaapons, or one hell of a missile boat. Plus it looks kickass. It is 65 tons of pure badass.
  12. Oh, ok. So I can't play the MW3 campaign with Pirate's Moon mechs? Daaaaaanng. Anyway, thanks. I just saw there was a mech named "Warhawk" and had to have it because I love that game. Also, how likely is it that I'll ever get more Gauss Rifle ammo?
  13. Head: 047AN02 Core: New SunShine Arms: HILBERT-G7A Legs: SOLDNER-G9L (or G8L, it's the RJ SOLDNER legs, not the bipeds) R Arm: Kapteyn L Arm: 051ANNR R Back: 061ANSC L Back: Phact Shoulder: 061AN...CM? The BFF ECM that says on your NEXT. R Hangar: EB-0700 L Hangar: None Main: Latona Back: Aaliyah Side: Lahire Over: Linstant FCS: Hogire Gen: I-RIGEL/G Stabilized to (0, -1) Tunes: 50 in ENO, ENC, KPO, Lock Speed, Aim Precision, Maneuverability (Going to redistribute to Turning Ability), Standard Back Thrust, Main QB. 42 in Main Vertical Thrust. That's it. Designed for giving and receiving long range, ballistic warfare. More later. Dinner. EDIT: 047 head chosen obviously for lock range boost. I'd like to use a slightly longer range FCS, but the lock speed drops off to much too quickly (HOGIRE's tuned 400 to Omnia's tuned 272) after Hogire. NSS Core to offset the high EN defense brought by HILBERT arms and Soldner legs. Hilbert arms chosen for high precision and great all around stats. Soldner legs because I'm not a huge fan of Argyros legs, and these were the only other two-legged models that fit. Plus I was inspired by MechWarrior, where almost EVERYTHING is a reverse joint. Kapteyn was chosen over Pitone for weight and ammo, and good chipping power. 051ANNR for a higher ammo weapon, as you can see this mech is a little sparse ammo wise. 061ANSC for killing power, and Phact for more ranged chipping. ECM because they look awesome, I never use ECM, and they are effective for hiding a location pretty well, like Scrambler in MW2. They know you're there, but they don't know where. Booster set is obviously biased toward backpedaling, and Latona mains are for perma-flight (or almost so) ability. Lahire sides for dodging power, as this mech is designed for longer range fights. As you can see, it hurts pretty badly in close range, but then again, there is the blade. RIGEL gen was chosen over LAHIRE because I had the weight, and could use it's superior output and capacity with two rail weapons and a blade.
  14. I wouldn't have thouht so either, I had the luck to be standing still and took a step back just to get away from the attacking Bushwhacker. And yeah, meant to add that. So you don't know which gearbwas in what MFB until one gets destroyed.... Anyway, is the ultra ac20 that ridiculously awesom? Because I have one, and what I THINK is a decent amount of ammo for it. Huh. *sigh* I want Pirate's Moon Expansion, but BitTorrent is gay and doesn't work on my laptop so I can't torrent it. The only other one I got was a .zip file that didn't work because it tried to use a file on the MechWarrior 3 CD that didn't exist. Do you have any idea where I can get the Pirate's Moon expansion for <$30? Also, if I were to get the CD from, say, EBay, could I just install Pirate's Moon and run MW3 as normal, or would I have to run it through Pirate's Moon?
  15. This game is SO much better in terms of attention to detail that so many other games I've played (Which is funny, because I have another game actually made by Attention To Detail, and it sucks) and on top of that, it doesn't require a hell of a PC to run and has pretty good graphics. I've had this game practically since release but have only now just begun to play it. First off, the details. This is the only game I think I've ever played that pays attention to where you're hurt, where the enemy is hurt, and how that would affect movement. I. E. your fifty ton battlemech is shot in the knee, and it will limp. You shoot an enemy in the knee, and it will trip and fall over. You can fall over, too, which is interesting - the fall motion is not scripted. If you start falling, you can save yourself - just take a step back and you can steady your mech. Your mech will also react differently depending on where it's hit, and will recoil and rotate to the side you fire from. Lasers have unlimited ammo like they should, and generate a lot of heat. Weapon ammunition is fucking heavy, which is something that often isn't taken into consideration. You get shot too much in one arm, the arm will get blown off and you'll lose any weapons that were mounted there. Second, the customization. While MechWarrior offers nowhere near the level of visual customization that Armored Core does, it still offeres a solid variety of mechs - ranging from super fast featherweights to ultra heavy mechs that are nigh impossible to kill - and an insane number of weapons. Now I understand that many weapons are reiterations of each other (such as large, medium, small, large extended range, medium extended range, and small extended range lasers, and a CLAN version of each of those) but for an old game it's still amazing. There are two types of missiles, long range and short, "Autocannons" which are basically burst-fire machine guns, and machine guns, as well as Gauss Rifles, Lasers, Pulse Lasers, and Particle Projection Cannons. Third, the gameplay itself. When I played Armored Core, I was teated in the lap of luxury. Sure my misison reward had to pay fo my ammo and damage, but at least all my ammo came back for the next mission. MechWarrior, any armor or ammunition you use/lose must be scrounged from the wreckage of your fallen enemies, unless you wish to use solely lasers (which can work). After each mission, you can Allocate your salvage, picking and choosing what you want to keep and what you want to leave behind. It teaches you "the true meaning of survival," to quote a friend. Then there's the whole "MFB" or Mobile Field Base idea. You start the game with three. Each can hold 300 tons of weapons, ammo, and giant robot. Now the total 900 tons is a lot at first, but you can fill it surprisingly quickly. All in all, MechWarrior 3 is an amazingly detailed game, that runs surprisingly easily and well for somethign so old.
