That's not the point. I was simply suggesting that this game is another one of FROM's "make it faster" answers to evolving a franchise. Like I said earlier, I enjoy the game. I just don't want FROM to set this franchise up the same way it did AC and ultimately ruin it. I will say that clearly this attempt at evolution has been executed far better than their more recent attempts with AC. At least the design choices made appear to make sense. The boss fights are def more intense, but some of that is alleviated literally by spamming your dodge.

Game is fun and all, but the boss fights feel like constant scrambles to me. Not yet sure how I feel about that, but it is still a welcome change of pace from the past couple games.

Warframe was pretty fun for a little while. Lag started killing it for me though. This was all before the official release however. I'm still playing Destiny too. Not being RNG's bitch though. Just pvp and raids finally.

The only thing that they were going to do that I'm really missing right now are the faction storylines. I have to wear a stupid class item for virtually no reason. I hope they get reworked/implemented because as of now the factions could be absent from the game and it would change nothing. [Edit] Just leveled up Dead Orbit again (2500 rep points) just for a single ascendant energy. They really need to think about the loot tables.

Playing the game as much as I have, it's clear that there was a change in development somewhere along the way. The infrastructure exists in the game for a far more robust economy and yet the economy remains largely absent. I don't think anybody knows what happened, but something changed between E3 2013 and the release of the game and it resulted in a diminished product. I'm just glad that Bungie have been working their tails off providing updates as quickly as they have been. The weekly updates help give the player base an insight into what's going on and that's always welcome. Either way, the game was good enough for me to play for a solid month without much interruption. I had to take a break afterwards due to the lack of content and getting completely burned out on strikes. I have Bioware to thank for giving me a pretty solid game in Dragon Age Inquisition to play so I don't get too burned out on Destiny again. CoD AW is alright as far as shooters go, but that game is frustrating to play without a Scuf.

After looking at the skill trees, I'm not sold on Nisha anymore. I haven't liked stack skills so far, except for anarchy, and Wilhelm seems to be more fun. I want to like Athena, but I don't know about the skills yet. I'm a lock on Steam if anyone goes that route.

The lack of private match also means don't expect to see competitive destiny anytime soon despite having included competitive multiplayer in the game. Makes sense right? The more I play this game, the more I love it. Too bad I got sent to Alaska and can't play for at least a couple weeks =(

It's a bunch of fun. I was reserving my opinion of the game until I got to see some of the endgame content. While I'm not quite there yet (lv 17 hunter) I can say that there is going to be something for everybody. Competitive nuts have the multiplayer which is very solid. The only complaint I have is you can't just go offline and screw around on the maps, but that's not a big deal. On the pve side, starting at lv 16, you can start doing strike playlists. What these do is allow you to complete any strike at random at the level of your choosing. So for example you could be experiencing the first strike mission (lv 8) all over again with lv 18 monsters instead of lv 8. I haven't done these yet though so I don't know if anything changes between the original strike mission and the strike playlist version. This doesn't even get into the raids yet either. So there's arguably more to do on the pve side of things which could really help the community stay active. We know all you need for competitive are good mechanics and maps/game modes that you can work with and destiny isn't falling short in that department either. So we'll see how things go moving forward. Bungie has a 10 year plan for this game so I would expect a lot more content than the two already announced expansions and day 1 tweaks.

That is pretty silly for the guys who got new gen already. It's really cool for the old-gen dudes though. I'm not sweating it because I was going to bite the bullet on next gen this year or next anyway.

Dark Souls is nothing like an MMO simply because it is largely an adventure that you play on your own. The capability to play with others isn't what makes an MMO what it is. What sets MMO's apart as a genre is the fact that you are forced into a world with many people. In Ata's defense, the Beta played like a hybrid of a single player FPS experience and an MMO. However, Bungie themselves have gone over and stated how much more ambitious this game is going to be in comparison to the Beta. Either way, in the Beta you had a central hub with people populating it and then the open areas that you launch to were usually populated with enough people to make a fire squad (4 total). You didn't get much of a choice. People were there and this was just the beta phase of the game. The game clearly is giving the player every chance to not play on their own and from what I've read thus far it would simply be impossible for Ata to complete this game as such. He's just in an unfortunate predicament with this game. He likes it, but he doesn't want to be told what to do with it and I don't blame him.

I'm not defending Bungie at all with my statements. I'm defending what the game was advertised to be from what you're expecting it to be. I'm really not trying to be a dick about it either. I'm not going to say anything else on the matter though. Facts are facts.

That's all well and good, but MMO's have always been this way. It's nothing new. I'm sorry you didn't know what you got yourself into.

The same could be said of any MMO really. It's just not that strong of an argument. Sure it feels far more accessible than a traditonal MMO, but it is what it is. The retail game is supposed to incorporate a lot more instances that will have entire fire squads joining your game rather than just 3 random dudes and it's all supposed to be a seamless transition between those instances and you doing your thing. Could this game work without all of that? Absolutely and I understand why it bothers you. However, Bungie is putting a lot of work into a seemingly integral system to their vision of this game. This ain't Halo bra.

Destiny is an MMO. The always online thing is a given. If it was any other genre game then I would agree with your sentiment on the always online is bs, but in this case it's just the nature of the beast. There will always be a game after your heart Ata.

1st place: Gen1, Sludge Dredd 2nd place: Gen3, DAD 3rd place: Gen1, Pool Noodle's Revenge 4th place: Gen3, Akimbo Avelyn 5th place: Gen5, Wyvern I feel like the Gen5 was very weak, but Wyvern was just good enough to make it into my selections. Gen 3 will always be my favorite, but the Gen 1 bats were really strong. Good job to the creators.
