Magnus
You like watching playthroughs on the internet? How about footage of E3? Enjoy watching that one match of that guy perfect guarding each hit of Chun-Li's special? Well fuck you! There's a bill in the works to make streaming copyrighted content, such as movies and TV, illegal, and because of the wording, video games are dragged into the mix with it. Prepare to go to jail for five years for showing off your leet skills in Street Fighter and Call of Doody.
█␢█
What's the bill/law that S.978 is going to amend? Edit: Found it but holy fuck those lazy fucks can't just rewrite it they have to say "oh yeah paragraphs #2 and 3 are going to now be #3 and 4 and we're going to do a whole bunch of shit to it. oh by the way the law this thing is going to amend references another law." Wong
Sven from Capcom already said that they won't remove gameplay because it actually helps their community (sales). Heck, 3SO has a YouTube service. So it won't affect SF. Other companies though... Honestly, I think companies will mainly use this to make game leaks liable. I don't think they will remove gameplay from YouTube or game streaming services.

Magnus
I just realized this bill could also censor in-game rioting recording when a developer fucks something over and they refuse to admit it, and instead send someone to jail for five years. Poor EVE users might just get it the worst.
Bakuhatsu Pengin
IF IT GETS PASSED IM SURE THE INTERNET COMMUNITY WILL DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT SERIOUSLY, ITLL BE THE LARGEST ARMY OF ANGRY NERDS IN THE HISTORY OF EVER

Shirtless Crackhead
There's money to be made taking away net neutrality and doing this sort of shit; so it'll pass, in all likelihood.
atdsutm
It all makes sense now (not allowed to post vids of games) + (Call of duty Elite subscription) = PROFIT its a conspiracy by Activision.

Lenin
Yeah, don't expect any fighting game company to take any sort of action with this law backing them. Activision on the other hand... This whole thing is literally bullshit of the highest order. There are currently three wars the US is engaged in, a recession that's getting fucking worse as time goes on, the middle class has disappeared, Wal-Mart's rampant sexism was federally sanctioned and there are thousands of corporations headquartered in one house in Wyoming and are currently taxed at a lower rate than people right above the poverty line because of it. And it turns out that somebody who once posted a video of them being good at a game is DESTROYING THE FUCKING COUNTRY to such a degree we need a law to stop it. But what happens on Wall Street, yeah, we can't make that shit illegal. Edited July 3, 2011 by Lenin
Shirtless Crackhead
Considering the verbiage, if any court case comes of it, the Supreme Court should throw it out; but who knows, lobbyists everywhere ya know.
