Magnus
Not DotA 2. Valve pushes that the acronym carries more weight now than the original name does. The original was a mod for Warcraft 3. It was ugly but fun and people played it a lot. But Valve went about and picked up the original creators and people who made the most successful variants, and ultimately made a stand-alone sequel! Blizzard freaked out and tried to sue them for ownership since Dota was a mod for Warcraft 3, but ultimately that didn't carry any weight. Good thing, too. Otherwise it'd be casualized as fuck. Currently the only way in is to buy a $40 invite from the Dota 2 store on the website, or to take the survey also on the website and wait to be sent the invite. Or find someone selling it in one of the many Steam forum trade things. Personally I am alternating between Tidehunter and Invoker. Tide is credit to team, and Invoker is apparently the hardest hero, as he has to create his spells repeatedly. And to do that effectively in combat, you have to memorize a series of elementals to conjure and then Invoke the spell, which means has ten spells to work with, where everyone gets only four tops. The game is very hard and I am enjoying it greatly because of that.
Vincent210
Not DotA but Dota? Whatever. The game that spawned LoL. If I ever get into this, from what I've seen of it I'd probably pick up Pudge.
Magnus
I just explained why it's Dota instead of DotA now!

Vincent210
It's not actually an issue of balance. It's an issue of new characters being released so frequently that the meta game from a match-up/tier list standpoint is in constant flux. Plus with the ability for each team before a match to ban 3 characters from being played that game you're sure to be able to just ban anyone who qualifies for OP. Magnus
The database of Dota 2 streams is inside of Dota 2. Under Watch. Balance is fine, honestly. Of course, new heroes can either be fine or currently overdone like Phantom Assassin, but you can still slap someone's shit with good old fashioned teamwork.
