I want to react with "Of course the story is bad, it's AC," but we're comparing it to some of the better games in that regard so I gotta hold back a bit. Still, it's entertaining, and even right now, at a time when lack of enjoyment is making it a struggle to play through some of the games for parts (to prep for ACDC 3.0), I can say I legitimately enjoy playing Project Phantasma. I actually have fun doing so. That said, it's probably one of the most half-assed games in the series.

Project Phantasma is one of my favourite games in the series. It's very short, and pretty goofy at times, but it features some of the most memorable moments of the series as far as I'm concerned (mostly due to a character named Stinger). I wouldn't compare it to Ninebreaker. If I had to describe it in relation to other AC games, I'd say it's like an add-on for AC1. I think I may be in a significant minority that enjoys it as much as I do, but I always got the impression that a lot of the lack of enthusiasm stemmed from the length and how that almost makes it feel unfinished. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to pick up a copy, but given the opportunity, I would definitely recommend playing it.

@ Pie: I agree, it is a bit fuzzy. I'm just fine with it, haha. @ Not-Hunter: Warm up before recording. Stop during cutscenes (I kinda want to say fuck briefings though). Keep talking and enjoy yourself.

I was fine with the voice quality. I put the volume very low and could still make out what you were saying at any given point, and there's nothing I'd consider a highly obnoxious spike. That said, I get the impression that you feel obligated to avoid dead air or something. Or maybe you just like to talk, I don't know, w. Knowing where you're coming from (5th gen) and how you compared that experience to what you're seeing in this game made the video more interesting to me. I'm not sure to what extent that is something you could continue to do.

It's good to vent and I genuinely wish anyone who got ragged on was actually able to respond to it (like LS was). It definitely came across as catty at certain points, which is both unfortunate and (mostly, I think) unintended. I gotta laugh at how we made asses of ourselves right after the discussion about what was said on TRV. On record, I am fine with having fun poked at me and am probably the biggest encourager of shit talk surrounding contests. Best part was at 2:05:20 (2:05:00 for the build up). There were some strong moments throughout. I had fun.

This was the closest I heard to a "community" episode. It actually would've been another good one to have guests on, though I understand you guys were closing it out. What TM was responding to (in case someone didn't listen): I want new people here. A good number of us do, and we've never said otherwise. No getting beyond the abrasiveness though. We bag on each other, and if you can get into that, we'll probably have some great moments together.

Nah man I ain't gonna say fuck anybody in this case I mean the game looks good so right on to the devs but it's also not finished so right on to the doubters. You keep thinking futuristic Raidou 'cuz they carry similar stances with the sword and gun, and some of their clothing (mostly the cape) lines up.

Idk if this is one of those betas. They're still taking feedback, and that's just one area, possibly a preview specific build of it. I do think they released it when they did because it's not as far along as it should be, though. The game was originally supposed to be out around now.

Yeah. This isn't like a full version type early access thing, either. They're calling it a "preview build," and it only has the one area (mentioning that has me wondering what the full size of the game will actually be like). In a way they are charging extra for beta access, I guess (but they do get the full game when it comes out). They padded it by treating it like a special edition, where they include art and whatever that you don't get otherwise. The Kickstarter version of that also included some weapon skins and a mention in the credits. At the same time, they also had the opportunity to pay less for the game alone. None of this is out of the ordinary from what I've seen on other Kickstarters or in some other cases.

They are giving them the full version upon completion. I don't know why you're assuming otherwise.

I should add that I definitely recommend watching it in HD. The guy isn't nearly as bad as a lot of players on YT, but definitely gets off to a rough start and doesn't add much of anything by talking. All I really meant by it is that it'd just be better if he wasn't tbh. I was gonna link to a different one since it had more packed into one video, but I found that person even worse. Yeah huh? If most indie games looked like what this is shaping up to be, I don't think the scene would be such a joke. I mean, I see some areas that could be problematic, but it mostly looks legit. Cautious optimism.

So, I guess that the pre-release/early access version came out recently, as there's a good bit of gameplay footage surfacing. The one I'm linking is the first of five (plus a combat video) from the same user. Part of me wants to suggest muting it because I'm not a fan of the commentary, but at the same time, losing out on the games audio sucks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yttUUvydB-k The more I see of the game, the more impressed I am by most aspects. It's the little things, too, like the enemies being able to hit each other and break (or die to) the environment, the clever way certain guns work, and the way the screen dims when you lose health, or how you bleed when you get too close to dying. In some cases (after getting a bonus from comboing or something), the drifter straight up decapitates dudes. It's nice to see that it's actually progressing, too, especially with how some Kickstarter funded projects have ended lately.
