  1. So I've been absent from this forum for a while, and it looks dead, but just on the off chance that someone is still confused about this... When you play as a merc, and the team you're with ranks up, you can be awarded any trophies relavant to the hiring team's rank. So if you're in a team with F- rank, and get hired by a B+ ranked team and they hit A rank, you'll get the A and E rank trophies without your own team's rank going up. Also, you can't lose team rank. I've seen my team do so before the first patch on the international server, but I haven't heard of anyone doing so since that patch, and I've actually tried to do it to my team once because I was curious after being told it was impossible. Your team can move freely back and forth within each letter range, but once you reach a new letter, you won't trade backwards. You can drop from B+ to B, and from B to B-, but you can't go back to C+ from there.
  2. With my builds that sinks while blading, UNLESS I'm using the blades, I don't sink. NO changes to boosters, frame, or anything except weapons. When you slash with a blade, your boosters cut out. When your boosters cut out, you sink. Oddly, this seems to happen in my case EVEN AFTER THE BOOSTERS COME BACK ON. I can be about 10m (a full AC height above the head of a target floating on the water) in the air, slash, and end up underwater and taking damage. One of my older builds also struggles, and looking at the stats, I think it's stability that makes the difference. Apparently there's mention of this being changed so floating is easier in the Japanese 1.01 patch notes, so hopefully that patch comes a LOT faster than ACV's patches and we can actually play PROPERLY on water soon. Because at the moment, there are certain things which are really tricky.
  3. I finally won while mercing in a special sortie today. It was an AC battle instead of a boss. I brought Vendetta arms. They work rather nicely on tanks
  4. Blades + water = NOPE. Just learned that the hard way last night.
  5. A couple of my builds struggle on water at times, but I've learned a few tricks. Usually it's right after a high boost that you'll find your AC sinking (at least that's my experience). Changing direction during the HB seems to make my ACs more floaty, although I'm not sure why. Also, while I haven't tested it thoroughly yet, I THINK increasing your stability and/or altitude control makes it easier to stay afloat. Holding the jump button as you start to sink can sometimes stop you from going under as well.
  6. I'll just leave this here: http://obliviondoll.blog.com/2013/10/03/armored-core-verdict-day-review/
  7. I'm also going to comment that VTF missiles are good against most heavyweight builds, and some midweights, and Dimapur is usually pretty effective, if not as a primary weapon. I'm really looking forward to those missile arms in Verdict Day, and hopefully something better than Otkryt for multi-lock (or those missile arms can have a mode with quad-fire per lock, that would be acceptable). I want to re-enact Ogawa's picture with a single AC.
  8. That gets you 12 missiles in the air at once. Add a Phoenix missile turret (Otkryt can run 2 of them), and you can get a total of 20 missiles at a time from 3 different directions. It's not exactly a versatile or practical build, but it's REALLY fun when it works.
  9. How was backpedalling (backPEDAL, not back PEDDLE, by the way. You're reversing, not selling spines) meant to be a good way to exploit an enemy's poor turning speed? Get behind them, or at least out of their lock-on arc, and stay there.
  10. And it's just been announced today by filthierich as if somehow the bosses showing up in the NA server without any mention of whether anything's coming to EU or not is relevant to the masses of people asking him about the patches we're missing... and as if it's something we hadn't already been told about in-game.
  11. I think they're probably testing the stability of the bosses on different servers. Since they need to localise, and that involves some alteration of the game's code. Might need tweaking. I'm just hoping the boss fights come with a patch.
  12. If the idea of this is to promote diversity, you should probably actually promote diversity. Instead of a "banned" list, make it a "restricted" list. Each AC can waive one (and ONLY one) restriction. Include ALL dual-wielding of the same weapon class (not just the same specific weapon, so Moonlight/Utica or Strekoza/Lotus would be restricted combinations). Add all the "suspect" weapons and parts to the list as well. Also, EN Amps should be on the restricted list. Dual shoulders as well. After testing, if there turns out to be an item that's still overpowered enough that everyone gravitates towards it over the other restrictions, that can be banned for real. This way, diversity is promoted by removing the ability to COMBINE broken parts to make the cookie cutter builds we're currently seeing. It's a little more complex, but I think it's a better way.
  13. It shall be solved! Thanks to my landlord letting me cut a deal on reshuffling my rent payments over the next month, I've just ordered a new 1TB HDD to replace my burned-out 60GB. Should be here in 2 days at most. And I've been advised that my currently-active build (which was a work-in-progress variant of this, using the same emblem) should be saved on the server, and the emblem will be salvageable too. I've probably lost a few other fun things I did, but it doesn't look like this will be one of them.
  14. As a display of your skills, the video the clips were pulled from is MUCH better, although this is a friendlier length. As a music video, it's not very well timed in terms of music pacing matching the action on-screen. It looks like you described it - a montage made by someone unfamiliar with the tools they're using, who's never set a montage to music before. On a less constructive note, I'm not much of a fan of your music choice, but that's a personal thing, so there's not a lot I can expect to be done about it.
  15. It's "associated" with Mechaverse in the same way it's "associated" with ACU and GameFAQs. There's a post about it there. And the poster is a member there. That's not the only forum where that person exists. If that's a problem, you obviously care more about inter-forum politics than the game. Good job.
  16. Quite proud of that myself... took about 30mins and at least 10 tries to get it right... ... Such a shame my PS3 HDD just died on me today.
  17. So, I was playing Armored Core, as you do, and I got a message to check the shop for new parts. I hadn't actually bothered to do so in a few levels, so I decided to take a look. And found a section titled "Physical Blades" which hadn't been there before. In this section was something called a "Murakumo" - and it reminded me of Assassin's Creed. In particular, it reminded me of the Smuggler multiplayer character, and her "Hidden Blade" weapon. Unlike the Assassins, or the prowler, this blade was, like the Murakumo, visible on the outside of her arm. The end result of this inspiration is an incredibly lightweight melee-focused giant robot parkour ninja, named "Smuggles" - the affectionate term given to the character it's based on by many of my female gamer friends (including my girlfriend, who was given the job of naming this AC). The design is distinctly form over function, but functionality was considered alongside the appearance of each part. I've found it to be surprisingly effective vs. AI. I'm yet to test it online, but I look forward to doing so. Head: Ruslan Core: UCR-10/I Arms: Svir Legs: Snowdon FCS: Otkryt Gen: Ho Vital Booster: Shinatsu Recon: URD-36/EA R Arm: Utica (Accuracy spec) L Arm: Murakumo (Power spec) Shoulder: Asansol After performance upgrades, my Utica deals barely over 5k damage, but uses barely over 8k energy, and has a blade length of 34. Pretty good, if you ask me. I managed to keep the Murakumo's blade length of 8 with Power Spec, and its damage is over 8k, with more than 2k impact force backing it up. And yes, Flash Rockets, I know. But they're not there because of overpowered-ness - they have a similar effect to Firecrackers in Assassin's Creed (blind/interrupt lock on), so they were the only shoulder weapon that made sense. I took 4 pics, but I'll only share this one - the least horrifically bad of the bunch: http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc371/obliviondoll/SmugglesClose.jpg
  18. No, really. I have a team based on Nergal Heavy Industries, the company that built the High Mobile Battleship Nadesico in the anime series. The "team" so far only consists of myself and my girlfriend (and we share a PS3, so only one at a time, usually me), with one applicant thanks to a recruitment thread on GameFAQs. The intended purpose is for Nergal to be a casual team - if we take any territory, that will be an unexpected and entertaining development. Mostly, the idea is just to mess around and have fun. TO give an example, one of my favourite builds to use is designed around missile turrets and dual shoulder missiles (I can potentially have 20 missiles in the air at once). Impractical, but fun. The Nadesico theme was inspired by my preference for a casual approach, but at the same time, the casual approach is inspired by the Nadesico theme. Also, both my girlfriend and I are fans of the show, and it has giant robots in, so it fits. Obviously, casual is appropriate, given the... unusual nature of the Nadesico crew. If you're interested, add me on PSN (obliviondoll), and I'll try you out. The purpose of the tryout is more to get a feel for personality than skill, because I care MUCH more about enjoying my time with you than expecting to have a good chance at winning. Also, I'm a little inconsistent in my playtime, so some days I'll be on when you are, and other days I won't. Also, if you're good, you're probably better than me. I plan to be on more often than not, and if/when the team is active, I WILL be active with you.
  19. Pretty sure by the time you're unable to use free text, you're also unable to go back and change your build. The time to let people know is also the time where free text is still an option.
  20. If they'd done a message in text chat, I'd understand, but only doing it vocally when you're not alone is just ASKING for a deaf person (or someone with voip off like you) to come in for a slaughter. You don't even need to macro it - there's a "free text" option they could use.
  21. Did you hear them say they were doing a blade match? Did either of them use text chat to let you know? If not, I don't see the problem.
  22. Best current-gen example of destruction physics is still Red Faction: Guerrilla, and they built the entire game engine around that functionality. Battlefield 3 does destruction well, but it's mostly scripted. If an Armored Core game had well-scripted destructible elements, that would be awesome. Unfortunately, ACFA proved that's not always easy to achieve.
  23. Ace Combat (also published by Namco/Bandai) is less popular, and there's only one DLC pack that hasn't made it outside Japan. And that's because it's Macross-themed, and everyone hates Harmony Gold.
  24. I'm on EU server. Anyone vaguely competent can ether avoid or pull out CIWS, but that's not the point. I managed to make a guy load CIWS even though he had no trouble dodging, simply because he wanted to "show me" how bad missiles are online. I don't think he realised I was using it as a troll build and him changing to CIWS meant it was working. Also funny when I spammed most of my sentry ammo because they kept exploding and the guy tried teasing me as if he though I was spamming them because I wanted more and didn't know how FCS work. I've already got 6-lock with Otkryt, and it's GLORIOUS (because dual shoulders = 12 missiles). Chews through ammo REALLY fast though. EDIT: Also, won 2 duels with it today. Probably because the other guy was laughing too hard to keep moving.
  25. OK. This is probably (not just probably) a stupid design. But it works surprisingly well for Order Missions vs. ACs, so I'm curious what others think of it. Keep in mind, after getting my copy of the game back only a few days ago (loaned to a friend) and having only played offline beforehand, I'm only at a team level of 30 so far, so I don't have everything unlocked yet (including some things I'd like on this build). So, without further ado... Here's my AC (WTF did I do?) Firstly, the actual body: Legs: Heavy RJ. Cantabrica Core: KE Defense. Ostara Arms: TE Defense. UAM-23/I Head: TE Defense. Vassily Gen: High Output. Robust Boost: High Accel. UBT-25/H Recon: Tracking. URD-36/ER FCS: Wide-Angle. Otkryt And weapons: R Arm: Podenka BR (WILL replace with Lotus when I can) L Arm: Milford Sentry Turret (I never paid attention before. Is there a better missile turret later? If so, I'll replace this with that one) R Bay: N/A L Bay: Geneva Gat (WILL replace if I find one that looks cooler) Shoulder: Mathura CE SRM A major focus on this design has been that I want to look at it and think it looks cool. I have a couple of heads with better performance stats, but to me, they don't fit the design. Also, the arm choice is almost entirely due to those arms being literally the only dual-shoulder arms available outside of Junk parts right now - and with the combination of Mathura missiles and Otkryt FCS, that gives me 12 missiles at a time from my AC, as well as 4 each from up to 2 Milford missile turrets. Up to 20 missiles in the air at once, coming from 3 directions? I'll take it! Feel free to tell me EXACTLY how screwed I am online (not that I don't already know). I just thought I'd share the hysterical glee for people who want to see lots of smoke trails and explosions chasing an enemy. It's surprisingly fun to watch the stream of missiles exploding in an enemy AC's path as they skillfully evade. Even if that is followed up by me being obliterated because almost every one of them missed. At least I have a BR/Gat to chip away a little health before going down.
