It worked pretty good, and they all did pretty good.

I kinda gave you guys room to have really strong officers, so they're always hella useful.

You need a ton of domestic officers to really max out cities quickly, granted that doesn't take too long.

You need an even bigger amount of fighters and men to hold and command cities/districts.

Real quick on combat skills and combos.

Black Arts + Focus + Anything or Nothing = Completely fucking broken, I am probably going to disable Sorcery/Lightning in my games and not use this combo, it's fucking absurd. It does good damage, confuses, sets on fire, and can be used to take allied cities, and if you have Capture added to it, you capture all their officers. That means you can just spam diplomacy/gold to win favor, agree to an alliance, then zap their city and employ or imprison all their officers, and if you have a good INT pool you can rumor and hire even the most loyal of soldiers. So, not gonna fuck with it.

A word on regular vs "stronger" damage (that would be like no skill vs. Exterminate or God's Command for regular attack commands), really it amounts to about 10%, it seems, so when you're dealing with larger units, it does more damage. Tactics do more damage than regular attacks, and you don't lose as many troops in the process, but they cost Will. Tactics that crit get about the same bonus, 10% (that's Flying General, Puissance, etc..). Crits also make Rush w/ Spears confuse units, and Stampede makes crits w/ Cavalry confuse, but both Stampede and the "General" skill are vs weak units, so units with officers that have lower WAR than your unit's officers. So basically it's not that big of a deal, unless you use Stampede or Spear and spam Rush, because that confuses people. But I have a dude w/ Divine Potency who roles with lieutenants that have Focus and Chain Reaction, so I really don't worry about confusing dudes with attacks.

Chain Attack + Beguile is the end all be all of offensive skills. This does more damage than any tactic can, if it procs the dual attack, and w/ beguile it helps compensate for the losses you incur doing regular attacks by stealing troops. But if you have an officer who can crit tactics and keep up his will like Raor w/ 100 WAR and Flying General and his LT w/ Gladdened Heart, it's more reliable damage w/ crit tactics and doesn't lose anywhere as many troops. Beguile also works with crits, so crit tactics return like 500 troops, which is pretty dope. Chain Attack + Beguile does stack with ranged attacks and White Riders skill too, so that's pretty good. Late game, Pikes w/ Research, Chain Attack + Beguile is probably the strongest combo, you take like half damage, do more which means you get more troops from Beguile, and just smack everyone. Chain Attack won't stack w/ Exterminate or Raid or Indestructible, so you can't get x2 "stronger" regular attacks or a chance to take no return damage, which is good cuz that would be broken if it did.

Flying General, btw, has the added advantage that you can move through enemy units, without Flying General of Fleetness (Seamanship on water) you cannot move past enemy units, you must move around them. This may seem dumb, but it means you can capture units and block units from trying to run and flank people, so it's seriously legit.

Stampede is super-duper strong, because cavalry units are quick and having them confuse weak units is pretty legit. But spears confuse ppl already w/ Rush, so the only saving is mobility which ain't that big of a deal, you don't wanna get caught out by your lonesome running in.

Capture is really strong, because most of the time officers escape when you blow up their unit, and go back home get more troops and keep fighting, which can be annoying. So if you wan to just capture their dudes, have someone w/ Capture in their unit finish them off, unless they have Providence (which like nobody has) or elite horses (the items, again, basically nobody), you'll catch them 100%. Related, but not quite the same thing, Plunder means if you defeat a unit that has items, you get those items, regardless of anything else. So even Lu Bu w/ Red Hare, you get Red Hare and his Halberd, this doesn't mean you'll capture him, but if you had Capture + Plunder he's gonna be caught 100%. Kinda limited in usefulness, as a combo, but Capture is legit as fuck. FYI, you can combine Black Arts + Focus + Capture and blow up cities at a distance and capture all the officers, it doesn't work with other ranged attacks, but it does w/ Lightning for some reason; not w/ PUK thou, I guess they fix that w/ PUK.
