Vincent: I didn't really know if to make them laser guns or flintlock design. Yeah, the guns look messy left as they are. I guess I'll finish them later. D:

New month, new style.

 

I haven't named it yet, but this style uses lines much thinner than any previous style I've used so far aside from that pic of Joid, but that was achieved with a different method that isn't as fast.

Jackson Lacey: Yeah, time sort of is a factor. It might have been 20 minutes to an hour just to color and shade him. The lineart took about 15 minutes. Which is why I usually do the comic in just line art. I'll probably do a few color pages, but since I'm not getting payed for it, I can't devote my time fully to it. D: Job and school are quite time consuming, yes, yes.

I haven't drawn in a week and it was pretty hard trying to get the designs right. I have to draw practically everyday or I start losing muscle memory for drawing.

I'll probably decide sometime this week, I have to analyze which would make for the funniest situations based on their personalities.

 

I've been waiting for the 15th to draw again, so many busy days, I knew by the 8th of the month that I wouldn't get another chance to draw again until the 15th.

 

For the 15th, the plan was to either keep working on the comic starting with act 5, or work on the re-write, manuscript version for submission as a project to be turned into something for TV. The latter being more difficult since I have to focus more on humorous entertainment, dialogue, and much less action. Either that, or I could just go indie and use the re-write as the basis for a new comic. The entire story of Gofero becoming a knight could be improved most definately, with far more hilarious moments.

I think its pretty neat. : { But maybe that's because I've seen the entire arc already and thought it was pretty epic. What I've drawn so far comic-wise is like 2% of the story, so I haven't gotten to the epic parts yet. Which is why I'm trying to find a different medium to re-tell the story in.

 

Maybe it's better off as a game though. All I know about designs are taht when I saw some character designs before watching a show, I thought they were lame and ugly, but after watching the show, I thought it was pretty cool. Then I realized that maybe it's all about execution.

 

Or maybe I should just stick to making them video game characters.

 

Although, it's hard to ignore the epic story in my head.

My only other alternative is to have 6th be a revolving door, with a different character every few episodes/acts. Unless I should make a 7th spot for that, lol.

Nah don't ignore what Kortok says, he's hilarious. Just don't take it to heart.

 

Your art is improving constantly which is nice, but I agree with Jackson on the storytelling getting really messy and convoluted. Like, it's one thing to have a story get hectic, and sort of being meta in that respect, but the storytelling itself should always be tight and with purpose. That being said, I still think you're storyboarding is really good.

 

Also yeah, I can't get the nutsack pants image out of my head now. Definitely need to resolve that somehow.

And resolving the nutsack pants is easy, just make the separation between his legs more obvious. Make them into actual PANTS, instead of just like a bag he wears over his lower body.

Penguin Deus: Thanks, I realize my story got a little out of hand now, sine I was seeing now that I could have done things differently, leading up to the invasion, like foreshadowing it and introducing characters that would later be relevant to the story. I think Act 1 is solid though, it just trailed off after that, thinking of redoing it somehow, but if I do, it will be in a different medium, otherwise I just keep going and just rearrange the order of events for the comic version.

I'm planning out a movie script to submit to http://studios.amazon.com. HOWEVER, I read that if they buy your script, you lose most of the rights to your idea and characters. I'm not sure what the extent of this is, but nonetheless, I have decided to make a "film" version with characters that are different. This re-design come from my literary side, and now, I think their pretty great, it's a shame if I lose them but I guess I could always invent a new story anyway. The story is also different, the protagonist is a failure knight. I'm gonna use all my know-how to make the best story possible, even if this universe is taken away from me. I've been spending tons of hours studying how to write in script format, so when it comes time to write, I'll be ready. I hope I just misread and you still get to write the sequel and add new characters and so on. Maybe none of it is true and I'm just being paranoid. [bugs]

The industry has fucked tons of people over. I mean some of the most iconic people in American comics got totally ruined by not understanding what they were signing.

 

Jack Kirby, the guy who basically created the Marvel Universe, got completely hosed by Stan Lee.

 

Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel, the guys who created Superman, sold the rights to him to DC and ended up making a lot less than they could have from the man of steel.

 

What I'm saying is don't just hope you re-read. Take that shit seriously if you want to maintain creative control. Understand what you are getting into completely and then make your move.
