KORTOKtheSTRONG
AC's have only one reason to exist, and that is being something that just falls over.

Talos
Of those mechs I'd say this one is the most practical: http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad300/hikick8/HARTMAN_CRAWLER_A1_zps37bd8616.png It wouldn't have any trouble with falling over. Tidus Klein
and she,s still faster then you because you cant stop fallin over stop wait i fell on my face agaaaaaaa............(trip and falls over on face like a baby) and thats how i lose all the races and games i play http://i1.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/original/000/006/216/7nTnr.png
Shirtless Crackhead
Mechs are silly because tanks are mechanically superior. Wheels are more effecient than legs, in rough terrain where wheeled or treaded vehicles cannot get threw, a large humanoid mech would simply give away your position. Fire support is delivered by air, not by walking machines. The argument is dumb, and they'd fall over.
Bakuhatsu Pengin
slai bots are still impractical and would pretty much just fall over if hit by something also +99 cacciatores were broken
Tidus Klein
that herment would not fall over. but like i have been saying STOP WITH THE MILITARY PRACTICALITY!!!!!!!!! you all have already made it very clear that you dont want mechs in the military fine then but can we atleast find a place they do belong even if its as stupied as some rich mans garage. as a play thing.you all have missed the point that all i want to do is to make it work not run it into battle. find logical ways to make an AC we can forget about the military i dont care. soo im hoping deep down that BerserkFury is still somewhere still working on this ( thou he has most likly has given up) thats all im sayin. KORTOKtheSTRONG
i read that garage as "gare-edge" also they would never work, no matter how hard you try your mech would fall over then youd fall over in it then everyone watching would fall over
Necron
Find a logical way that it could move at any significant speed without falling over.
Aokiryu89
The only thing you can really do is design it so it can handle falling over and that it will fall over gracefully and be able to pop right back up. Even the most well balanced legged organisms in nature fall over from time to time.
Tidus Klein
tis true and i agree that an AC would fall over if it was hit hard enough but not just walking around. if the makes poured millions in to an AC they would find away to keep it from falling over in normal movment
KORTOKtheSTRONG
you say that, but you have no proof
Draxus
Radar isn't infallible http://en.wikipedia....Barrage_jamming or http://en.wikipedia....orbent_material They would just fall over? By your logic humans would be horrible combatants. Besides quad AC's wouldn't fall over. Edited January 24, 2013 by Duronix
Talos
you say that, but you have no proofFaith in technological achievement = nonexistent.. Radar isn't infallible http://en.wikipedia....Barrage_jamming or http://en.wikipedia....orbent_material They would just fall over? By your logic humans would be horrible combatants. Besides quad AC's wouldn't fall over.Agreed. If humans can stand up and not fall over, eventually so could mechs.
Shirtless Crackhead
RPG-28 Defeats 1000mm of Rolled Hardened Armor (homogenous steel) behind Explosive Reactive Armor via Tandem Warhead Defeats 650mm of RHA behind ERA with PG-32V Tandem HEAT rocket, or used as an anti-personel/anti-material weapon with thermobaric rounds. Both cost less then $1000 USD to produce.

Necron
Radar isn't infallible http://en.wikipedia....Barrage_jamming or http://en.wikipedia....orbent_materialAnti-radar measures aren't infallible either. Just putting RAM on something isn't going to make it stealthy, you need to have it shaped in a way that deflects radar. Which isn't going to work on a very large bipedal machine if you want it to have any armor whatsoever.Agreed. If humans can stand up and not fall over, eventually so could mechs. You also don't weigh several dozen tons. Also people take time as children to learn to balance while standing up, a machine doesn't have that luxury. And the moment you fall over in a combat situation, someone with an RPG shoots you and destroys your paper-thin armored, faux-stealth inefficient walking machine. Or, you know, they shoot you beforehand in the leg, causing you to fall over permanently, and then shoot you again.
Aokiryu89
You'd have to turn falling over into an offensive or defensive feature. Speaking of which, any money in simply making armored wheels? Like say this.http://citycomfortsblog.typepad.com/cities/unicycle.jpg But with armor and bigger, and possibly a gyroscopic cockpit that allows it to flatten out with the driver still upright. Or heck just make a light vehicle with reactive armor all over it's wheels. Whatever just spouting nonsense.
Tidus Klein
huuuum nice see even robots can be ninja. and by the way a tanked leged AC would never fall over
Shirtless Crackhead
Why would you put arms on a tank, it has a turret. Why not just make tanks, oh wait, we already do.
