Yeah, I posted a gameplay vid a few posts up. It's a little outdated now. Each level might have a different game mode now. With only the desert having "Survival" mode which was the main gameplay type until recently.

 

Finally made this character from the initial sketch more interesting. I made her smaller, and her weapon is now her hat, which absorbs the traits of an attack thrown at her, and transforms into various animal heads depending on the attack. For example, if the barrier emitted from the hat catches a fireball, her hat will get a dragon head that shoots fire. If she is attacked with a punch/kick anything solid, her hat changes into a frog with a tongue that shoots out and hits like a long distance punch. If she gets hit by a very quick, accurate attack of any kind, the hat might turn into a mouse, and give her super speed. She can't stack powers in her early form, so her hat has to spit out a previous ability to use another.

Some other random characters. The wolf guy is the older version, I ended up changing it to a Cheetah, for super speed. The rock guy is a little off, and the dragon is the 8th dragon boss, I got the pic on the left from an older sketch and was trying to make his powered up form.

Yeah, I gotta work more on the rock guy. The cheetah came out terrific, lol. The funny dragon will take the heroes by surprise since he looks wimpy, but is strong, and then gets stronger when he buffs up.

 

Actually, I've been making tons of characters for a dual purpose. For future games, and because I want to draw a comic promoting the future game, and the current game to some extent. And this time, instead of doing light, crappy sketches because I was short on time, I'm gonna go all out with the art, at least in a way that allows me to update weekly, but either way, as high quality as possible this time around.

Well, I'll only participate if I'm able to find a style or method that is fast, but this time, has HIGH quality, rather than letting sketches tell the story like last time. I finally figured out that I should use a method I had 12 years ago, when combined with my techniques of now, achieve something that is fast, but looks formed and not wobbly. These are all the practice sketches I have so far. I'm doing everything, drawing fast while trying to remain steady, then drawing really zoomed in fast, drawing with different ink levels, just looking for anything that is utterly superior to all the others in quality and speed. Only thing left to do is put a paper over the tablet and see if it increases line steadyness.

If I don't find it, I will have at least made a better method for drawing my game art anyway.

 

And if for some unlikely reason I win 1st or 2nd, and then get a ton of revenue from the game later. I'll just give the winnings at x2 to whoever was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Just sayin since games are sometimes money bombs waiting to go off.

 

I've decided to go with this style at the last minute, something I remembered but hadn't used till now. Took an hour to make the page. Another 20 to write the text. I wonder if I should go with a pure black and white style, or just have the intro in full color and the rest in black and white.

Thanks, I did eventually figure out what style to use for the comics, I don't know if to make the modification to the game version as well, probably will. And even if I don't win, I can use these images in story mode in a future update.

I went with the design type at the bottom right for the comics, and will later change the art to match, but its just for those two, the others look the same. The quirky square head style for the knight in the middle of the page would work well if I wanted to redo the game version art and make it more appealing internationally.

Worked some more on the pages. They're mostly still unfinished. Let me know if should just go full black and white or if color is fine? I probably would have been done if I just went with inking, lol, but I want to give it my all this time around, unlike last time where I skimmed pages to get them done. I haven't finished putting dialogue, and have to redo some dialogue, like the mutiny part, each word should probably get its own bubble.

The entire thing is about 20 pages. I still have to draw some word balloons for the text, and change the text around a little, as well as add the missing text.

Forgot to post this days ago, the characters have multiple forms, based on how much of their hidden potential their using. Their outer form changes based on how much % of their power they use and their emotional state or other attribute. For example, this is a minor spoiler, but if Grafto uses more than 10%, he risks turning into the design on the left. The designs middle right are his "True form" if he can ever get it.

 

The concept is based on the old webcomic I had, where the Princess had a "dark" transformation seen when she is fighting another. Although, in this story, she can go either way depending on some things, the design in the pic below I might not use, but Grafto's I definitely will, since as you can see on that page, he is very interesting in that form.

Thanks, here are some work in progress pics for the next episode. I'm thinking each episode after the initial will be 12-13 pages long in order to meet the minium episodes criteria for this competition. Basically, after this initial stage, if you make it to the next round, you keep drawing, or if you fail, your out.

 

The feline sketch at the bottom was for reference, I'll erase her from there once the page is finished since the planet is suppose to be in the background with characters around it. It's still mostly rough, and I gotta take out some stuff that I left it accidentally.

Actually, I'm just using this contest as an excuse to make more art for my game and at the same time improve it, which I have succeeded in doing {That planet image, holy hela!}

 

I'll finish these two episodes at my own pace, or just submit it in black and white, but at least before the deadline.

 

I've got a real opportunity for my game recently, so I probably should focus on that, I don't know.

Thanks, the cat girl appears a few episodes in. Giolith will appear later too. You should definitely work on your writing and characters, the more you work on them, the more that world shapes up.

Yeah, the key is to be able to get the muse to hit when you want, rather than waiting for it. It's very tricky.

 

I haven't checked it out yet, but I will as soon as I'm done with all this other stuff.

ur perspectives are great in this one, and bscly in general art is on point

 

its a little light on story, though. you didnt move the plot along much. maybe work on that a lil more, try to be a bit snappier with that or at least try to pick a better point to end a chapter (ie say a little more in it)

Oh yeah,

 

 

A scene that happens later is that Phreit says that Ritrika's wings are more like Danish Rolls when she fumes about Grafto calling her bagelwings. But that would be around 06 or 07.
