how the old demons souls worked:

you get souls for killing stuff. souls are like money, so say you get 100 souls for killing something. to level up, you spend those souls on a stat. say you want to level strength from 1 to 2 and it costs 500 souls. now from 2 to 3 it costs 750 souls.

now, every time you spend souls on a stat, you gain a level. in demons souls the limit was 712 iirc, but going from level 711 to 712 took something like 9million souls.

its a lot, sure, but its even more when you realize there is no bank system in demons souls. if you die, you drop all of your souls where you die, and if you die again without picking up your dropped souls, you lose them all. if you had 5million souls and died twice, youd be forced to make up those 5million souls again

and of course, you die mostly if you suck. its really as simple as that. if you suck, you die often. if you dont suck, you dont die as often.

because of this, people who dont suck as much can level up higher because they wont lose their souls as often

however, this is all going off of demons souls, not dark souls. im assuming most of the mechanics are the same, but idunno.

that explanation was probably longer htan it needed to be!

im so becoming a pyromancer

but im guessing you'll be able to kill that thing no problem on higher SL's unless it levels up as well, and that it can be easily killed like every other ai enemy in the game
